Not sure why there haven't been any other positive reviews so far, but personally I have been enjoying Wind Breaker season 2 a lot. Is it perfect? Of course not. But it knows exactly what it wants to do and executes it well.

First off, if you are watching season 2 that means you have already seen season 1 (and presumably enjoyed it). If you didn't enjoy season 1, then I see no reason to continue watching something that you don't like (hatewatching is lame).

Alright, now that that's out of the way, onto the rest of the review.

Story and Characters: Definitely the weakest part of the ... show. Sakura is a typical tsundere MC with a good heart. He wants to protect Bofurin from all the rival gangs and does so semi-successfully. However, I think the side cast is more interesting. Characters like Hayato, Kyotaro and Ren are easy to follow and provide and are more dynamic and have more layers than the MC. Other than that, it's a typical delinquent story. Gangs fight other gangs. Nobody is watching this show for the story anyways so for me the criticisms are somewhat unfounded. On one hand, the story is generic but on the other hand that is not the main appeal of this show at all and was never from the beginning.

Animation: By far the best aspect of this show. The fight scenes are clean and fluid, and the choreography is exceptional. Additionally, the camera work in the big group fights is impressive and the hand to hand combat is done very well. Cloverworks are a great studio, and although they don't usually do fighting anime, they really knocked it out of the park for this one.

Soundtrack: The OST in this show is good, it gets you hyped up and does its job well.

Voice Acting: The voice acting quality in this show is very high. There are a lot of high profile VAs in the cast such as Uchida Yuuma, Shimazaki Nobunaga, Chiba Shouya and more. They do a good job of portraying the emotions and personalities of their respective characters.

Overall, Wind Breaker season 2 is a solid show. It's not a groundbreaking story, and it's not reinventing its own genre, but the delivery, execution and presentation makes it a damn enjoyable ride.

I genuinely don’t understand how is this anime sitting at a 7.92. Even more confusing are the glowing reviews praising it as some kind of masterpiece. Scrolling through them feels surreal — like everyone’s watching a different show. The gap between the actual content and the reception is so wide it’s almost comical. It makes you wonder if we’ve collectively just stopped caring about quality.

The writing is painfully weak, the characters feel either one-dimensional or so over-the-top they border on parody, and the plot moves with the kind of manufactured intensity that tries to convince you it’s saying something meaningful — but it isn’t. Honestly, ... I catch secondhand embarrassment roughly every 40 seconds. Whether it’s the dialogue, the forced emotional moments, or the hyper-dramatic posturing, the show constantly trips over itself trying to seem cooler or deeper than it is.

And then there’s the painfully obvious attempt to generate attention by shoehorning in what feels like hollow LGBTQ coding. It’s not authentic representation — it’s bait. A calculated move to stir engagement, not to enrich the story. It doesn’t feel thoughtful or earned, just strategically placed to manufacture buzz and appeal to a wider market under the guise of inclusivity.

None of this would be so frustrating if the show weren’t being praised as if it were some kind of standout. But a near-8 rating? That says more about where the anime industry is heading than the show itself. When shallow storytelling, forced trends, and surface-level “depth” are mistaken for quality, it’s clear the bar has dropped — and it’s not getting back up anytime soon.

If you came into Season 2 expecting just more senseless violence, you came to the wrong place.

Now we’ve got feels and character development with well-written scenes—some even touching on topics that many claim are just "for diversity’s sake," but they clearly aren’t. From the comments I’ve seen on Episode 6, some people really stopped watching a great anime because of that. That’s their loss. I honestly don’t pay any mind to people who can’t appreciate something good without forcing politics into it.

This is a beautiful story with ass-kicking in the mix. If you don’t like that, then go watch Baki on repeat or something…

Wind Breaker ... Season 2 improves where it counts—story and character development. The fights are still top-tier, but now there’s real emotional weight behind some of the characters. They feel more fleshed out, and the plot moves with better pacing and purpose.

It’s still over-the-top in the fight scenes (which are so freaking godly choreographed), and it balances the action really well. If you enjoyed the energy of Season 1 but wanted more depth, Season 2 delivers—easily.

It’s a solid 9/10 at the moment, but might go up to a 10. Still have half a season to go!

Is Windbreaker season 2 worth watching? If you like fights and cool coreography it definitely is. If you want any plot you will not find it here just move along.

I just cannot take this show seriously man, the premise is ridiculous, from the lack of capable adults, to the lack of teachers, to the lack of any police officers, to how many freaking gang highschoolers are in those towns man there can't be that many. Windbreaker's characters are walking tropes and the plot is just ridiculous. Why are highschool kids talking about philoshophy and sending feelings through punches? It doesn't make any sense. How hasn't ... any of these kids died yet? Also this is a minor detail but I don't get if this is supposed to be a somewhat realistic depiction or some of them just have superpowers, kicks will send guys trough walls, they'll send them flying 3 meters and the worst offender is how everyone of these guys can just straight up block and parry baseball freaking bats. You can not do that shit all of them should have ended up with broken arms after the first hit unable to do any more of this fuckery.

In conclusion, do not watch this for any crumb of plot or good characters, just turn your brain off and enjoy the fights, they're great, music is decent too, anything else? Sucks really. If you can do that it's a good watch for what it is.

It's pretty boring. Honestly I'm not sure if season 1 was like this too, but surely not, I was looking forward to season 2 and now that it's here it's kinda meh...

There's a whole episode dedicated to a "less than side character" backstory, the main fights are also full of talking, flashbacks etc. I season 1 was like this too in this regard, but at least all the sob stories/sentimental bs was either about Sakura or some major characters, it feels so trashy listening to a sob story of a fodder character, trying to squeeze out some emotions, like even if they become a ... recurring character they will still barely cut it as a side character...

Not to mention the noticable CGI in mass fighting scenes. Like I get it, it would've cost a ton to anime that stuff, but surely there were better ways to go about it, like still frames, camera angles etc. But also the fights themselves feel less interesting, season 1 had better coreography and just simply more fighting.

It's best to wait until all episodes air and see how people react when all is said and done, as of now it feels like a chore watching the episode each week, and the first 3 eps were supposed to cover a huge, interesting fight...

I dragged through season 1 because the fight scenes in this show are pretty cool. It has some good technical discussion and animation in its action. Also, the diversity of the characters' fighting styles is interesting. Some characters have mystery in their fighting style you want to see develop.

Unfortunately, it spends way too much time being an emotional drama. It is horribly cheesy and roll-your-eyes bad when it comes to character development. After three episodes of preteen drama, I couldn't take it anymore and dropped the show.

It's too bad it couldn't do a better job sticking to what it is good at. I wouldn't care ... if it stuck to old tropes of character development. It's just drawn out way too long and way too cringe.

It may deserve better than a 4 for what it is good at, but this many episodes of horrible quality don't make up for it. It certainly doesn't deserve the high score it carries overall.

After watching it as far to season 2 episode 4 i can without a single ounce of hesitation say that this anime is carried by it's animation and fights. I enjoyed the first season of this anime because it was filled with a lot of action, which made this show with garbage story a bit entertaining. The mc is an annoying tsundere meathead who gets told relying on his friends is okay and there still has not been any development. Annoying and corny long dialogues that make me bore to death while watching this, sometimes i had to put it on 2x or even 4x ... speed to continue.

If you want to see some cool animated fights then watch the season one and the first two episodes of season two, then drop it. And anyone that calls this garbage "peak" are just trying to be different or are just a hardcore fans of the manga. I'm seeing a lot of people calling out on people that complain about the long and unbearable dialogues, calling them kids and only watching anime for fights. But lets be honest here, without the animation and fights this is just pure boring garbage.

... Wind Breaker, just like its previous season, is only recognized for having Cloverworks' names plastered on it. The anime is given good attention with its production value and no signs of pacing being butchered. It's a nice follow up for viewers who can pick up where they left off earlier. It gives a nice little recap and goes directly to the next episode without any downtime, so you immediately get into nuts-bussing action.

It's still your usual Wind Breaker, so you're still subject to another round of corny lines and by that, I mean so corny, you can't even ignore it and get second hand embarrassment from listening to it. Yes, there's not much legitimacy from me saying it's corny, but when you pair that with the most shallow characters to grace the screen, it's a bit too hard to tolerate. At least you're not given too much exposition dialogue like the last hyped anime of the season. The anime tries to fist in each character with their arcs with its really cheesy dialogues, so it kind of made it a lot worse to watch.

There's a lot of things I don't like about Wind Breaker, but I give it a chance because there's something in here that it still manages to accomplish despite all that embarrassment I get from the show. If you're willing to tolerate another round like me, then go for it. That's it.

Not impressed 3 episodes in. The first three episodes suffer from the same issues I had with the entire first season. However, the pros balanced the cons in the first season and made it somewhat enjoyable.

That is not the case in season 2. We’re thrown into a conflict with a new rival gang in town that we don’t have much backstory for, all because a character we’ve barely met really cares about another character we barely know. The corniness of the dialogue so far has been pretty hard to watch.

I enjoy the fight scenes in this anime. Nothing more and nothing less. I’m getting tired ... of the sappy sob stories they keep trying to throw in my face. I understand there needs to be some resemblance of a story to propel the action scenes, but in an anime where a city is threatened by gangs of middle/high schoolers with no parents in sight my disbelief is already high. There are WAY too many tears in episode three to accompany such a shallow story.

I can’t recommend this anime to anyone other than extreme anime fans who watch a ton. I would not recommend this to the casual anime fan who likes to watch the hottest shows of the season. I think this season is just okay so far. Very middle of the road.

I am absolutely in love with this anime! I'll be honest, I found season 1 to be incredibly predictable and cliche at times with its plot and storytelling, it's saving grace was it's amazing animation style and how unique all the characters were.
Season 2 really hit me by surprise and had me hooked from the first episode, to the point where I immediately went out and bought every released volume of the manga on Amazon Kindle. There was just no way I could wait till next week to find out what happens next.
Here's what you need to understand: Wind Breaker isn't a ... typical shounen battle manga. While yes, there are cool action scenes and fights, however a lot of effort also goes into exploring the characters themselves and their emotional states in a way that is pretty practically unheard of for a shounen;and for some people that can come off as cringey, cliche, or predictable. Whether or not this level emotional of emotional exploration is your cup of tea is ultimately a matter of preference, but as for me, a person who will watch anything that has good storytelling it, Wind Breaker is the BEST.

It's a mixed bag really. First season left us wanting for more with its good choreography, animation style and quite novel idea for a story if a bit shallow. But it was good enough to hold attention and action filled up the missing parts.

New season rolls in and it's a disappointment. From stiff CGI animation to predictable characters and senseless beatings you really have nothing going on at the moment. For three episodes now we watched a group fight because two other gang fought and other than rage inducing bits there's nothing else. Just shots of punches thrown around for almost three episodes. With ... only 12 episodes planned I don't know how they plan on introducing the story, if there's any.

I have mixed feelings instead of directly not recommending this one simply because I expect more from Cloverworks. That said, if we are to judge what we've seen so far objectively this season has Ninja Kamui written all over it. All action and no substance. This whole thing might change in 9 episodes, but I doubt because trend was set in season one and it didn't budge. Hopefully it gets better for the fans, but for me it's a drop. Hopefully am proven wrong since we are in a dire need for some good shows to watch.

I was really excited for the start of Wind Breaker’s second season, especially after how strong and well-crafted the first season was. It had built a solid story with deep characters and a unique artistic style. The second season started off strong, maintaining the same energy and excellent direction — but unfortunately, everything started to fall apart after the introduction of a certain character (no spoilers).

Was the story unique? If it was predictable, did you enjoy it anyway?
The story wasn’t exactly groundbreaking, but it was delivered in a fun and engaging way. There was real potential to continue the masterpiece that the first season set ... up, but it feels like the writer decided to sabotage the story. After that character was introduced, the plot became forced and the developments started feeling unnatural, like the show was creating drama just for the sake of it.

Is the art style fitting for the story?
Visually, the anime is still strong. The art and animation continue to be a highlight, effectively conveying the intensity of fights and emotions. Even when the story started slipping, the visuals held things together.

Were the characters well-rounded? Did they have flaws and strengths?
In the first season, the characters were written with care. Each had clear motivations and human flaws that made them relatable. But the second season completely dropped the ball on this, especially with the new character. That character - at least for me, they were downright unpleasant. Their behavior, mindset, and motivations felt off-putting, and I couldn’t sympathize with them at all. Their presence broke the balance between characters and made interactions feel shallow and forced, like they were from an entirely different show.

Did the characters react to situations in a realistic way?
At first, yes. But as the plot escalated with this new direction, the reactions started to lose their grounding. Characters began acting in ways that felt inconsistent with how they were established — more like they were serving the plot than being true to themselves.

Do you think others might enjoy or dislike this series, even if you didn’t?
Some people might still enjoy the heightened drama and over-the-top action, especially if that’s their thing. But for fans of the first season who appreciated the grounded, character-driven story, this season will likely feel disappointing.

I actually quite liked the first season, but this season just feels like a downgrade in every way. I wanted to like it, but I just couldn’t keep watching anymore. When there are fights, they are alright, but the majority of it is no longer focused on action and that would be alright if the story was good, but it’s genuinely unbearable. If anyone gives this higher than a 7 it’s just glaze. The characters seem to be getting shallower, the story is boring as hell.
If you want to see action, don’t watch.
If you want to see story, don’t watch.
If you want something to play ... in the background while doing something else, it’s okay.

Pretty much everything I thought about the first season remains the same. 10/10 fights, 7/10 on character development.


The second season has less fights and more character development. The difference between the two is massive. The fights are still amazing. The one on one fights are in the top tier of Anime. The character development and stories are better done by other animes. With that said season 2 has an actually good non fight arc couple episodes. The problem is it's very out of place with the rest of the show. Again the character development is better done by other anime.

If you come ... for the fights you can skip episodes that don't have them without losing much. The fights are absolutely worth watching.
