Honestly, I catch secondhand embarrassment roughly every 40 seconds. Whether it’s the dialogue, the forced emotional moments, or the hyper-dramatic posturing, the show constantly trips over itself trying to seem cooler or deeper than it is.
And then there’s the painfully obvious attempt to generate attention by shoehorning in what feels like hollow LGBTQ coding. It’s not authentic representation — it’s bait. A calculated move to stir engagement, not to enrich the story. It doesn’t feel thoughtful or earned, just strategically placed to manufacture buzz and appeal to a wider market under the guise of inclusivity.
None of this would be so frustrating if the show weren’t being praised as if it were some kind of standout. But a near-8 rating? That says more about where the anime industry is heading than the show itself.
