I dragged through season 1 because the fight scenes in this show are pretty cool. It has some good technical discussion and animation in its action. Also, the diversity of the characters' fighting styles is interesting. Some characters have mystery in their fighting style you want to see develop.
Unfortunately, it spends way too much time being an emotional drama. It is horribly cheesy and roll-your-eyes bad when it comes to character development. After three episodes of preteen drama, I couldn't take it anymore and dropped the show.
It's too bad it couldn't do a better job sticking to what it is good at. I wouldn't care if it stuck to old tropes of character development. It's just drawn out way too long and way too cringe.
It may deserve better than a 4 for what it is good at, but this many episodes of horrible quality don't make up for it. It certainly doesn't deserve the high score it carries overall.
