Sousou no Frieren

During their decade-long quest to defeat the Demon King, the of the hero's party—Himmel himself, the priest Heiter, the dwarf warrior Eisen, and the elven mage Frieren—forge bonds through adventures and battles, creating unforgettable precious memories for most of them.

However, the time that Frieren spends with her comrades is equivalent to merely a fraction of her life, which has lasted over a thousand years. When the party disbands after their victory, Frieren casually returns to her "usual" routine of collecting spells across the continent. Due to her different sense of time, she seemingly holds no strong feelings toward the experiences she went through.

As the years , Frieren gradually realizes how her days in the hero's party truly impacted her. Witnessing the deaths of two of her former companions, Frieren begins to regret having taken their presence for granted; she vows to better understand humans and create real personal connections. Although the story of that once memorable journey has long ended, a new tale is about to begin.

Frieren has connected with me in a way I find struggle to explain. Personally, I have never seen any anime (or material similar of the sort) to be about what happens after the protagonist wins. I always about how they get there. Nobody ever really shows what happens after and that's what I have always wanted to see every time I finish watching something, wishing "Oh, I wish they'd release something that would show what happens after." People would say, then read manga and I promise you, I do. But I don't care, I want to see things animated. And so, Frieren not only has ... given me this satisfaction but has given a story worth knowing. The story uniquely shows a different side of love—a different way to show love. We lose something everyday. May it be loved ones, a pet, or even an object that represents a value close to our hearts. Yes, it hurts when it happens. But I think it's important to focus on what is left behind for us. Nothing is permanent? Indeed so. But the memories, the feelings, the emotional attachment, the bind we had with what is lost is a part of what keeps us alive and feeling. And this show had made me realize this. It makes grief something to live by.

I lost my dog last January. It was sudden, totally unforeseen. And so it hurt like a bitch (not that it would have hurt any less if there was some kind of warning). And there would be times where I'd him, and ing hurts like a bitch too. But then, it'll . Sometimes, for a second, I would here the sound of his claws scraping on the floor because he was such a lazy walker. Or I would see his kennel, or his food bowl, or see his brother laying on his bed. Then again, it'd hurt and some. But that's the way it is. That way, I'll how life was when we had him. And I'd get on with my day. Because that's how it's suppose to be. It hurt when he left but boy does my heart beam every time I him. And those memories, it hurts to miss it, but it's proof of the love I had for him.

All this for an anime? Well, yes. Isn't this what all of this is suppose to be? Nurture our lives and provide us the feeling that we are seen and understand and that we are not alone with whatever we are feeling. My review may seem a whole lot personal and doesn't align when any technicality. But this is what Frieren is for me.

Mixed Feelings

Okay if you do not like slice of life & calm category then this anime is not for you. I'll share my insights through pros & cons:
PROS:
1. The animation is very good. The world building is good. Scenery & drawing are so good it can make a non anime watcher watch it.
2. Story telling in a way you would understand everything is also good.
3. It can help you relax.
4. Characters are unique & you feel emotions for them.
CONS:
1. Mostly the main characters are quiet & they don't speak or express much which can be frustrating. One character can be like that but here you ... have 2 MC (Frieren & Fern)_ who don't speak 90% of the time; of which one doesn't have emotions because she is an elf & their kind doesn't procreate or anything.
2. Most of the main story is happening in past!! This is the main issue. Whatever story is being narrated is of people who don't have much to do with current story- one of them is dead, another is irrelevant & third one is somewhat relevant. Its all Frieren thinking about past. So it feels all like- why should I be invested in the past? The story is convincing but irrelevant.
3. Frieren is the main hero & she can do anything. There's less challenge.

I was about to say the show was just not my taste and call it a day until i saw all the overrating and marketing… Why?? It literally ruined it for everyone…

Imagine telling someone who is getting into anime that this is the best anime has to offer!

Get this garbage out of #1. It is embarrassing for us as a community. This medium contains the highest of possible fictional art, it is in its own league. Yet this show is not amongst that. This is a sloppy collection of annoying characters and intentionally mundane meaningless plot lines.

Imagine telling someone that just because it had a ... few good eps out of 28 this is a masterpiece!? Clown world. I hate this so much!
I need to cancel all my anime subscriptions after this cheap move.
