Is it visibly low budget?
Absolutely.

Is it bad?

... There seems to be some kind of perfect storm of enraged fans of the source material and MT fans that inexplicably hate this show contributing to its undeserved abysmal rating.

From the perspective of someone who enjoys some occasional isekai slop, this one is better written than most. The pace is slow compared to others like it, but never boring.

The animation quality has been heavily complained about, but I've seen worse. The fight scenes are fairly static and fluid animation comes in short bursts. The thing is, everything is competently drawn and well composed. People talk about it like it was made carelessly. It was made with care by talented people, but under time and budget constraints.

All in, it's worth your time if you don't mind fight scenes being more or less skipped in favor of better animated everything else. As a side note, it does feel similar to MT in the beginning but it's far better by omitting the gooner debauchery alone. One of the highest praises I can give this show is that it is utterly lacking in "fan service".

Currently streaming this on Animyne, and The Beginning After the End stands out in the crowded isekai field by blending familiar tropes with genuine emotional weight. The story follows King Grey, reincarnated into a magical world as Arthur Leywin, who must navigate a second life with the wisdom (and burdens) of his past.

What elevates this above generic power fantasies is Arthur’s character growth—his struggle to balance his warrior’s instincts with the vulnerability of childhood adds depth. The world-building is solid, with a well-paced magic system and political intrigue that unfolds naturally. The animation shines in combat sequences, where Arthur’s fluid swordplay and spellcasting take center ... stage.

That said, the early episodes lean heavily on training montages, and some side characters feel underdeveloped compared to the compelling protagonist. The story also occasionally falls into predictable power-creep patterns, though it avoids becoming outright repetitive.

Downright insult of the manhwa. Ruined every scenes and expressions. Wanted to give a negative infinity in the rating. Just read the manhwa or the novel for Doraemon's sake and boycott this adaptation. No I take back what I just said, just read the novel, manhwa is skipping a lot of information and the new art feels like AI 3D trash. The animation couldn't convey any sort of emotion at all and was just random robotic expressions throughout all 4 episodes. Aside from that, the animation of magic was poorly done. Was this project just 2 dudes doing homework in a room with only one ... cheap laptop? They ruined Arthur in both the 2nd season of the manhwa and the anime adaptation. There are better fan fictions than the original story. I'd recommend reading those instead. I dunno what was and is going inside "Turtleme's" head back then and right now. Maybe gastric.
