The very definition of an uncut gem. It's hard explain why this is better than it appears without major spoilers, but suffice to say this is a rare isekai story that actually plays with the whole reincarnation thing and game logic as more than just a convenient plot contrivance.

It ostensibly functions as a mystery story while the A and B plots slowly come together.

The reason I describe it as "uncut" is the animation. This was rushed and/or low budget and it shows. The first half or so is well done for the most part, excluding what I would consider excessive use of mediocre CGI.

The ... final few episodes are where it gets a bit difficult to watch. They appear to have run out of money by episode 18 or so. The last few episodes have the plots finally coming into alignment and should be climactic and exciting, but it feels a bit flat with PS2 era CGI backgrounds covered in static and choppy models. The limited hand drawn animation during these sections notably abuse still frames with voice overs.

They clearly did what they could, but the final product is really carried by the writing which, while good for an anime, is far from a masterpiece. The most unfortunate part of the whole thing is that this is unlikely to get an opportunity to continue with a higher budget. Maybe I'm wrong, but we're going on 5 years now with no sign of a second season being produced.

Overall, it's worth your time, but the ending will probably leave you wanting more that will never come.

It's a rare example of fantasy mixing with mechs. I'm normally not a fan of mech shows because they tend be kind of depressing. (see most popular Gundam shows and spaghetti people politics) This evades that problem by having basically zero stakes and a protagonist that can fix any problem near instantly.

The animation is serviceable, but it isn't going to blow you away. The same can be said of the music. It's a good way to kill some time, best enjoyed with friends and/or ... lacking sobriety.

Like I said it's fun, not a masterpiece of high quality writing.

This feels like one of those shows that's going to end up on an "Incredible anime you've never heard of" list.

No single aspect is particularly impressive, but as a whole this is a well produced nice story that's worth your time. It's an isekai that really doesn't fall into most of the common pitfalls of the genre.

It's not horny, this is huge. It's way too hard to find fantasy anime low on "fanservice". The MC is technically overpowered, but it's balanced well. The pacing is near perfect, providing plenty of time to actually develop characters.

I hope it gets a chance to continue.

The low rating of this show seems to ]be purely based on unrealistic expectations.

This is isekai slop. It tells you it's isekai slop from the start. At no point does it pretend to be something greater.

So why are people complaining about it being generic and poorly written?

Come into this show with the same mentality you bring to a bag of chips. It's a brief, cheap, and low quality experience that will entertain for a few hours. The characters are one note, but fun. The premise is generic, but easy to follow without thought. The animation is average to bad, but it's serviceable and not ... unpleasant.

Basically, turn off your brain and use this to kill some time. Expecting more from it is a waste of effort.

I really wanted to like this show. It's well written for the most part, the characters are fun, and the worldbuilding is interesting. Unfortunately none of that matters because it annihilated it's own pacing by committing one the of the greatest sins a fantasy story can.

Magic exists, but it barely is shown.

I've seriously never seen someone make magic boring until this show. It was cool how they wrote it in as almost a disease, but the solution isn't the MC learning to use it in any sort of interesting way.

This would've have legitimately been a better story of they nixed the whole magic system and ... made it low fantasy with the MC introducing cheap books to the world. Instead we get poorly written political intrigue.

This has some fun concepts that I haven't seen before and the animation is slightly above average in quality, but it's not enough to save the show from mediocrity.

This suffers from the same excessive horniness and harem BS an annoying number of fantasy anime have. Normally that can be ignored if the rest of the show is good enough, but this just feels aimless.

The plot isn't episodic, but it somehow ends up feeling that way. It's difficult to describe, but the show just kind of... happens. Characters arguably change and grow, but not to any significant degree. The world building is interesting, but it never ... really delves below the surface.

In short, this is the most 5/10 thing I've seen in a long time. It's not the worst, but I wouldn't bother if you have anything else to do with your time.

If you know someone who likes or defends this show, keep an eye on them. They may not be a predator yet, but they're certainly ready to forgive and one.

The opening scene of this show was so utterly disgusting I dropped it instantly. After seeing a ton of discourse online about how "It's a great show, you just have to give it a chance" I decided to do just that.

It never stops being disgusting. In fact, it gets worse.

The MC is the picture of an incel groomer who wants to sleep with his mom, his sister, and several other children he meets. Defenders of ... this red flag in the form of an anime claim that this is the main character slowly and realistically growing into a better person after decades of isolation and gooning.

This is not the case. He's an awful person, and remains that way for as long as any person with moral com could bear to watch.

If this guy was real person he'd deserve to be in prison for life, not to be given an opportunity for a second chance. Certainly not to be allowed near children.

If this review angered you, please check why pretty animation is enough for you to forgive one of the most abhorrent story concepts I've ever seen. No normal person could enjoy this.

This tricks you into giving it the benefit of the doubt. The first 3 episodes are pretty good, like a 7/10. Episode 4 onward is the show becoming progressively more horny and less focused. Episode 10 was the limit for my taste, and I've stuck with some pretty bad shows to the end. Without spoiling anything, the plot of this episode turns the MC into a moron out of nowhere. It insists on redeeming a character that is both irredeemable and unlikable.

Long story short, don't waste your time unless you actually enjoy harem slop. This is definitely not one of the one's that's good enough ... to let you ignore the horny stuff.

This show isn't outright bad, but it gets more praise than it deserves. It's well animated and competently produced, but shoots itself in the foot with its very premise.

The core problem is the show being way too dark. Dark fantasy and dark themes in stories aren't inherently bad. The problem here is that it gets tiring. There isn't a single ray of hope aside from the relief of the MC figuring out how to avoid unimaginable tragedy #27. In fact, they tack on a bit of lore that makes every horrible thing even worse around the 2nd season. I liked the show when I first ... started because I assumed it would progressively lighten up as the MC grew, but it doesn't.

As time goes on the plot deteriorates further until all that's left is beautifully drawn torture porn. I'm sure some weirdo wants that, but it doesn't make a good story. Also, the time loops eventually just make the plot feel like it's badly paced.

This show feels like a vestige of the early days of isekai, when people were still probing to see what would sell. This one got a following because it's pretty and there weren't many options yet, but the 8/10 rating is frankly outdated.

This show could have been some quality isekai slop for people who like the generic power fantasy. It suffers from the same issues of bland characters and oversexualization you would see in any of these shows, but the action is well done. It also doesn't really go anywhere with the plot and has some very strange stuff that feels like the author satisfying a pregnancy fetish. All of this could be forgiven as quirks of the genre, except for one glaring issue:

The main character is literally a r*pist and this is presented as nothing at best or a joke at worst. It's absolutely disgusting and ... makes the show entirely unforgivable. How can you be expected to root for a protagonist that's so awful? There's nothing graphic, but the implications alone say everything I need to know about the writers.
