manga adaptation, revealing a prototype visual on Friday (pictured).

Makiburo began writing the villainess drama series on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in May 2020. Ichijinsha began publishing the light novel under its Ichijinsha Novels imprint with illustrations by Comic Lake, and released the final chapter on Friday. The fifth volume shipped in November 2024, with the sixth and final volume scheduled to be released on June 25.

Synopsis
Although Emi Kobayashi is heartbroken over her own death, she realizes she has reincarnated as her favorite character from an otome game—the villainess Remilia Rosa Graupner. Emi is kind and generous by nature and therefore determined to give Remilia the life she deserves. Her warmth soon charms every key character, and she ensures Remilia's bright future. For a decade, Remilia has watched over Emi from the inside, satisfied as long as the tender-hearted Emi was happy herself.

The arrival of the protagonist, Pina Blanche, envelops Emi's world in darkness. From the beginning, Pina shows her true colors, resorting to underhanded methods to destroy Remilia's reputation until everyone turns against her. When despair overwhelms Emi, control over her body returns to Remilia. But Remilia is not so forgiving that she will simply let Pina have her way. She swears to take revenge and show everyone who wronged Emi the power of a true villainess. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

The manga adaptation basically released its last chapter a couple weeks ago (only the epilogue left) and I was hoping it would receive an anime adaptation, I'm so happy I could cry

I fairly recently added this to my to-read list because of recommendations, I don't know if I'll wait for the anime or not. 🤔 I'd like to see the trailer for sure.

Interesting twist, the soul on the body gonna fight over for control. Gonna see how this is turned out.

@iwubanime Well, as I said above, the problem is not in the negative attitude towards some genre or trend. There is nothing wrong with that in general, we all have different tastes. I am puzzled by the hatred for the sake of hatred. At one time I was reproached for the negative attitude towards some titles, but for some reason it is normal to constantly write about the negative attitude towards entire genres.

But getting back to the topic, you can argue for a long time about the quality, but the otome isekai that I saw were at worst just boring, but for the most part quite interesting at least for one viewing.

bad/ok by the community. I guess I have a low bar for entertainment :) . I have enjoyed all the villainness shows I've watched but only a few really were top quality.

Female lead fantasy shows in general however, are probably some of my recent favorites. That includes the isekai and villainness sub genres.

I look back fondly on things like:

Yona

And while not as strong, I did quite enjoy:

Taming the Final Boss

So for me the female lead fantasy adapations are generally much stronger than the male lead ones. I'm not sure why I feel that way? One possibility is that the romance is stronger there? I do see a trend with well written characters as well, so maybe that's part of it.

@DROO7 - that's great. We're getting a full adaptation then. That almost never happens. I'm excited. Thank you!

This is a dream anime for me and I've been waiting for it forever!
I absolutely love the manga for both the art and story. It's the best Villainess manga I have ever encountered, and I read lots of Villainess.

I'll be waiting impatiently!

@iwubanime not 100% sure about the ln, but it’s essentially a re-release of a web novel that I believe is already finished. So the mix-up with volumes could be due to that. The ln has multiple volumes while “1 volume” on its page might just be the default placeholder since the web novel wouldn’t have any, and since it is technically unpublished it wouldn’t get its own entry.

As for the manga, it only has an epilogue chapter left, with the final volume being its last. The story is over, and honestly the anime adaptation would only need one season. It’s a fairly short series, but not to its detriment.

Villainess anime sure are the hype nowadays, uh?

I'll remain skeptical but the twist in the plot actually sounds a bit interesting, we'll just see if it delivers or not

@deltahalo241 It's a simple question of the target audience. It only took me a quick glance at your page to realize that you simply prefer female-focused media in general. The community would have become a much more wholesome place long ago if people are more open about their tastes.

@RobertBobert While I wouldn't say I love them, I do prefer them to male led Isekai. I chalk it up to two factors mainly:

1: The over-saturation of male led isekai is much worse compared to the Otome Villainess genre, which is newer and fresher.
2: Characterization, I feel the Otome Villainess genre tends to put more work into their characters then most male led Isekai.

Now that's not to say that there aren't exceptions to the rule but I find in general it holds true, at least for me.

9.51 ... That's probably the highest rated otome Isekai in mangadex

well , i like the female lead design and there is a nice balance btw male and female characters (at least not one female lead surrounded by a bunch of handsome guys)
so yeah ...looks good enough to deserves a try

@iwubanime I have nothing against Otome Isekai in general, but I always found it funny that many people who love them also hate male isekai.

The first half of the synopsis sounded pretty generic and I was about to write it off however the second half piqued my interest somewhat, exploring a Villainess story with some subtextual DID themes sounds pretty interesting, it'll depend on how it's handled of course but it could be something to keep an eye on.

I pretty much love most Villainess shows. There's usually a bit of romance, the female leads are always likable, the rest of the cast is entertaining, and the plots are usually intriguing. The only curse is they almost always only get a single season (outside of Bakarina which for me is the worst of the bunch..). Regardless, this one sounds really interesting with the original character taking control.

I'm confused though, MAL lists this as finished at 1 volume but the news post says there's a second volume (and Wikipedia says it is ongoing). Then the news post says the final volume (of the manga) is releasing in June. What is the status of the source? Also two volumes is not a lot. Are they going to adapt it all then see it be stalled until the source finishes and the anime is dropped..? :( Or is the manga ahead of the LN (that's not usually the case).

Ooo, I see that the art is by Mai Murasaki, who also did another Villainess show that wasn't the best but I enjoyed: I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss.

Looking forward to this!
