Zom 100 is a really good example of a cool concept that never made it to the proper concepting stage of storytelling - where the character, goals, and ideas are developed. It's like the author/animators/etc. had this really fun idea of a guy feeling free when the zombie apocalypse starts, then they thought of maybe 5 interesting scenarios and 3 characters and then just started writing. Uh-oh, you've just run out of ideas, now what? Let's just start throwing a bunch of crap around.
In short: the first half of this anime is really fun and well put together, the second half is some of the most poorly written obnoxious garbage I've ever watched. Take that for what it is. Oh, and the fresh take on the zombie apocalypse is tossed out the window in the last episode with a generic "let's find a cure" goal that gives me zero hope for the second season being even sort of worth watching.
