I really wanted to like this season, because without the Isekai angle this could've been a decent show, but the MC hasn't progressed at all and in the span of twenty four episodes he still has done nothing of note, and his one definable character trait is to be nice. One thing you have to keep reminding yourself while you watch this show is that Ars is actually a forty seven year old man, something you would quickly forget based on how he is portrayed throughout both these seasons, he is as bland a character as you can get, no common sense and whatever wisdom he may have had before being reincarnated is gone along with all those years of studying they made sure to show us in season one, he does nothing of note all while being lauded as the greatest general this world has ever seen and along with being easily flustered by the most banal conversations, (granted it's probably overly exaggerated for comedic effect) doesn't make for a compelling MC, especially when you take into consideration he's a grown man and not a twelve year old.
As for the story itself the war portions are badly animated and the tactics which was supposed to be the highlight are either ass pulls for Ars and co. to prevail or the most basic shit ever relayed to us as being o' so clever.
I think this show is liked because of what it isn't instead of what it is, okay the MC isn't OP, arguable, he doesn't have a harem, again arguable and the romance angle is this is mushoku level effed up but I'll digress.
What this show isn't doesn't make it a good show, I'll rather watch an OP MC crush everything with a legion of fawning waifu's exclaiming their greatness than watch a MC blush, stutter and scream their way thru twelve episodes of mediocrity.
Eh the world building and music wasn't bad, still there are a lot better ways to spend four hours, if you like the setting the manga and LN are much better, give those a try.
