Not sure if this comparison is done often but it probably is, the main characters in both of these series both struggle with internal loneliness, obligation, and the feeling of being out of place or lacking a system. They are also somewhat saved or changed by a kind group of females/female that helps encourage them and provide them with warmth they lacked before.
