Tokyo Ghoul
When it comes to blood only thing comes in mind is Tokyo ghoul and Elfen lied both have kind of similar setting Both have awesome amount of blood spill and Slicing of people Both anime contains battle between superpower and some organization which are trying to kill them to make a better society or use them for bad use Both anime will make you think is killing people right or wrong ? I am still Scratching my head
Both anime are extremely gory and both ask the existential question: what makes us man or monster? The ghouls and diclonius both are very similar to humans and are able to somewhat fit in society. Both main characters have back protrusions that act as weapons that allow them to kill. The main characters are also taken in by a family of sorts and taken care of. There are many interventions by the government to capture and kill the main characters.
Ok,this anime may not have the half-human,half-something but it focus on the way people regard those different from them so this is why I put it on this list. Are the humans right?Or diclonius just want to survive?Should they be locked in the laboratories, deprived of their freedom?Watch the anime and find out!!
Both include different races of people who suffer (in the exact same what Toyko Ghoul's ghouls do.) Government forces and large amounts of gore. Elfen Lied dives deeper into morality though.
Shows are both seinen meaning they are intended for a slightly older audience (roughly 17-25 years if I'm not mistaken). In addition to the fact that they both have a darker and more gritty atmosphere, complete with heavy gore, they both have heavy moral dilemmas and intense psychological aspects.
Let's see; over-the-top levels of gore. A protagonist who gets broken horribly. Psychotic, yet sympathetic characters. Themes of dehumanization. Intertwining of violence and sexuality. Overall, a heartbreaking and tear-jerking story. All of these describe Elfen Lied and Tokyo Ghoul pretty well.
Both Tokyo Ghoul and Elfen Lied present the lives of ghouls and diclonius as species to be hunted down by humans. Both MCs, Kaneki and Lucy spend most of their time hiding, with people they have trusted, from being hunted down. Both are also dark anime with a lot of gore in them.
Gore and edgy with human-like species
