Extra Stage is a branch off of what you're used to from Initial D. Instead of following Takumi we are following some of his allies and it's actually somewhat a breath of fresh air. I do find it to be a decent OVA in of breaking the series up a little.
Basically Extra Stage is a little break on the intense action, with some faster pacing and a still decent and enjoyable story.
Nothing crazy, nothing to awe at. But something to kick back and relax to!
Also the Lan - Evo arc in Stage Two was probably my least favorite, however there is a return of ...

I was a big fan of the Dean Wonderland anime and really did crave more since finishing the short season. I decided to give the manga a go and if you are in the same boat, I would recommend reading from chapter 1. The anime leaves out a lot (including one of the most important details) and doesn't introduce you to all the characters. This is absolutely an instance where I would say the manga is superior to the anime adaptation.

Preliminary (14/21 chp)
Going into this series, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. I read this series in tankobon print, and now concluding volume 2, I feel comfortable giving a review.

For starters, this series was nothing like I originally imagined. In fact, I'm not sure what I expected out of this series, to be completely honest. I didn't read the description, I bought and read it on a whim and I'm so glad that I did! What you get inside of the first volume is a fight between Batman and Joker which ends with Batman being sumberged in a chemical that turns him into a baby again. ...
