ah welcome to the NHK, what more can i say. I'll tell you right now, it might very well be one of my favorite anime.

the story is about a collage drop-out named Satou Tatsuhiro who couldnt handle life so he shut it out and became a Hikikomori (people who shut themselves in). the plot deals with him coming to grips with reality and learning about overcoming his Hikikomori ways, while learning about himself in the process. the art it great and there are only a few anime that top it, like the sky crawlers or spirited away.

i liked the soundtrack almost as much ... as the art, if not more. they do a great job of cycling the background songs in a tasteful, non- repetitive way. they also did a great job placing and fading the music during serious or strenuous moments to animate or enhance the situation.

the characters were amazing. they were so multi-dimensional that they were unlike the bland, repetitive character types you get from 90% of all anime. they all had serious emotions and problems which weren't fabricated to fit the situations. one thing i particularly liked about the series was the way the characters used humor. the jokes were subtle, just the way i like em' and many of the comical situations were realistic. I'm not saying they could necessarily happen to you or me, but if you were a Hikikomori living in japan who knows.

By now you've probably realized I'm being very vague but thats only because i don't want to spoil anything for anyone reading this review. i know people usually put those spoiler tags on parts that would ruin anything but we all know that if we're seriously reading the review. . .we'll look. Anyway, id have to say NHK is a solid 10 and at the risk of sounding like a broken record it's one of my favorite anime. so go out or stay in and watch NHK because it doesn't really matter where you watch it. . .every thing's just a conspiracy anyway!

ok so I've seen like 200+ series and i have to say that this is one pathetic series. i watched up to shippuden 50. im telling you nothing interesting happens, and like 90% of the series is filler anyway.

the plot is seriously lacking and its a pathetic excuse for a slice of life/action-drama type of show. im writing this for people who legitimately haven't seen the show but the series is just NOT worth the acclaim or watching at all.

the characters are even worse. you have your over-zealous,untalented guy who thinks he can do anything if he tries hard enough. . .and he ... just so happens to get increasingly stronger enemies to fight along the way. than you have your emo broody guy who all the fan girls swoon over while he talks about how much he resents his brother and must AVENGE HIS CLAN! get over it already and last you have your naturally talented good girl who has a crush on the bad boy, even though its obvious he hates her and that the other guy would kill to have her. look people this has been done MILLIONS! of times before so please if you haven't seen the series don't watch it. it will waste days of your life away for nothing. . .literally the series will take up 88 hours of your life! thats over 3 and a half DAYS! you could have been doing something WAY more productive. hell, it doesn't even have to be productive. you could probably have a better time watching paint dry! listen to me people, for gods sake i only watched as far as i did out of obligation to finish a series i started but it wasn't worth it! so PLEASE heed my words and never ever watch this series of overrated garbage!
