I watch anime here and there a few at a time, I'm a busy person so I watch when I have the time. I take anime ratings somewhat seriously, if you care about it my criteria is below.

It's pretty hard to pick favorites but If I had to pick my favorite anime is Shadows House, favorite manga is Tsubasa Chronicle, favorite novel is Ascendance of a Bookworm and favorite character is Myne.

I try to rate anime as objectively as I can based on their contents and not my personal preferences. An Example Take is: "I dislike romance genre anime however the story and characters are well written in this anime and it would be an enjoyable watch 8/10." I personally dislike anime that has too much "fan service" or such content in it, but fan service will generally not affect my overall rating, however there are absolutely still exceptions.

My ratings are designed as follows:
A rating of 3 or below is:

Not worth even considering regardless of who you are, anything I rate in this range tend to have major flaws that affect enjoyment or even "watchability" of the show such as but certainly not limited to, horrible animation production and quality, poor story and writing, "awful" characters etc.

A rating of 4-6 is:

Maybe able but highly depending on the person watching to decide whether they'll like it, everything listed here tends to be a gamble with a possibility of poor story and writing, bad animation production and quality and "bad" characters. Everything here however has enough good points to make it a good watch depending on the viewers personal preferences e,g "Shounen with decently well animated and entertaining fight scenes but fairly annoying characters and mediocre story

A rating of 7-8 will have:

Generally a good watch with a 7/10 having a fair amount of flaws or lacking in some areas here and there but not enough to ruin enjoyment with a generally watchable story and entertaining writing or characters and at least visually able animation and production quality. A 8/10 will generally be a step up over a 7/10 in most ways and be a better watch depending on what the viewer (you) likes. Anything rated here may be from a able to a very enjoyable watch depending on what you like.

A rating of 9 means:

A very good watch and will certainly be worth your time, everything rated here will have a good story, writing, characters, and generally good animation. However have a certain aspect or two that fall slightly short of truly reaching a 10/10 masterpiece e,g below average production quality, slightly disappointing or slightly lackluster average story, good but only somewhat above average characters and writing etc. Everything I rate a 9/10 is a very solid watch.

A rating of 10 will of course be:

A true masterpiece that you should be watching next if you haven't already, the few that make this rating have more than good enough or outstanding animation, well written characters and a good story combined with good music and directing to make for a excellent and sometimes breathtaking and emotional watch. Anything rated here I’ve also personally loved watching, and I can say without a doubt it is objectively a 10/10 masterpiece. If you disagree you have bad taste, go and get some better taste (just kidding xD).

As a reminder I "try" to rate everything I watch objectively, however because I am human and will obviously have a natural amount of "bias" because of that, you may disagree with my ratings and that's absolutely fine. Just don't bother me with or argue over the internet with me over it. I don't have time for arguments over largely "subjective" or opinionated topics, just assume it will end in agreeing to disagree and that's that.

Even if I rate a show a 6/10 or something doesn't mean I didn't like it, just that I believe it's objectively a 6/10 regardless of my personal opinion.

My personal anime list is mostly filled in with what I've watched, Manga list is missing a bit cause I'm too lazy to fill it in.

completely agree. This should be a place where you can organize what you have watched, dropped, or PTW, and figure out what's new each season, not a hive mind of people complaining on forums to piss people off.
The problem I have is when people get on their soap box and absolutely bash and review bomb objectively good animes, just because it's adaption isn't as good as what it could be from the source material.

Yeah I do exactly that. I drop a lot of animes that I dont like, then go down the line of what people say on another anime and choose what sounds good.

(Moved this response from the forum since it kind of would piss off some people on MAL, possibly even forum s, and wouldn't fit the original forum post which could get it removed)
AKA this forum: https://myanimelist.sitesdebloques.org/forum/?topicid=2209697

Just because someone has been on MAL for 10+ years doesn't mean they are in any way smart or intelligent. And honestly, some of them (not all) are lacking in that department, or they are stuck with the same beliefs from over a decade ago on all sorts of things, and/or want to bring politics into a random forum just to create drama and divide the community.

Really though, it doesn't matter what someone's beliefs are, as long as they are not being an uptight hive-minded a-hole who spews a bunch of politics (Think Reddit). Politics can destroy entire websites from enjoyment, because people say edgy "dark humor" just to get reactions, or someone posts about a very vague dumb political statement that's completely incorrect or misconstrued (And they know it too) just to piss of certain political demographics depending on their party affiliation (All political sides can do this, I'm not pointing fingers).

This site would completely suck if it had a Reddit karma style of posting, all thoughts against the majority wouldn't matter. It kinda already does on reviews though, which is completely stupid. I personally wish they just had the helpful reaction still, nothing else.

Exactly. :) She's my favorite Pretty Cure mascot.

The bond between her and Mirai is so heartwarming.<3

A "BEAUTIFUL" description of how you rate anime's (which contradicts the ratings you give many shows)

Dang man, your bio shouldn’t be a damn school essay.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
Keep track of your anime easily by creating your own list.
