I entirely agree with you.

The truth is, I've heard a lot of controversy about the ending, and I'm curious to hear other people's points of view.
In my case, I think the ending gives it an original touch, but as you say, it is the journey that makes the series special.

And, about Zankyou no Terror, do you think the characters deserved another ending? Or, is it precisely that conclusion that makes it a special series?
