Tl;dr:
- Movie suffers from a pacing issue
- Unrealistic and uninteresting characters
- Forced character interactions
- Cliched and cringe dialogues
- Good animation, character designs and music.
- Targeted for a relatively younger audience.
What's the worst thing you can do with your romance anime? ...
Unrealistic characters?
Cliched and cheesy dialogues?
Forced character interactions?
Or maybe all of the above?
Omoi Omoware Furi Furare should be named as "Rejection Compilation" as rejection is everything that happens.
Am I exaggerating? Ofc but not too much.
The premise of this movie is interesting enough. 4 main characters with different views on the love end up together in a high school as a classmate. Will they be able to achieve their wished youthful romance? It's not bad I liked the first 22 minutes of the show (yes exactly min 22). I wish I could say the same about the rest 1 hour and 20 minutes. It was just a complete mess with a huge Love Triangle.
The characters are nothing new and interesting. Yuna is just like your everyday annoying shoujo character who is living in her fantasy and confessing to someone who already rejected her once. Akari may seem like a mature girl but she is selfish af. Kazuomi is that one character that every anime has that even the author must've forgotten about halfway through their work. He was the most interesting one but had the least screen time. His having to hide his ion and dream of being a movie director from his not well-mannered family was interesting, but the author decided to ignore his interesting side and just focus on boring love triangles. Rio is just a (cool) character that every anime has who is mysterious, tall and handsome. He loves his sister ( not blood-related). So he is jealous when Kazuomi is together with Akari. Nice incest going on here.
Our leads meet with a complete coincidence. Yuna helped Akari once and Akari invited herself to Yuna's house. Kazuomi was Yuna's childhood friend while Rio was Akari's brother who was someone Yuna was interested in.
It's not a bad way to introduce a character to other characters as it is done way too much in animes already, but I don't like when this happens coz this will take away the entire important factor of "How our leads met and became friends first". The movie did a pretty okay job of this on Yuna and Akari, but this movie is not Yuri so it doesn't matter much. Because Rio and Kazuomi are brother and childhood friend of Akari and Yuna they are already friends before even interacting with each other much. So I think this is an easy and boring way to introduce the characters, but not everyone has the same opinions. So there is nothing I can do about it except for putting my own opinion.
Except for how characters are introduced, how characters fall in love is not well executed either. I believe 2 things are important when it comes to romantic progression between the leads and that is " Why they fall in love " and "How does the love affect their lives".
But I think the author has a different view on what's more important. The movie is full of confession, but none of them feels like genuine love and that's because they don't have much reason to fall in love.
Yuna loves Rio coz Rio (coincidentally) has similar hair to her prince from what they read in her childhood. Wow, interesting. If the fairy tale prince had black hair instead of blonde does that mean Yuna would've loved Kazuomi and not Rio? Guess we will never know.
Rio loves Akari since childhood and love at the first sight. Interesting too.
Akari loves Kazuomi and the author dismissed it by making Akari a kind of girl who easily falls in love. How interesting too.
Rio later in the series loves Yuna and that's after literally kissing Akari like 10 minutes earlier. Is that what society calls Fuccboi?
Okay people can defend him and I can understand it as Yuna did help Rio to make up with her sister, but is that enough to make Rio forget his first love and move on? I don't think so.
And last and not least Kazuomi loves Akari. Idk why and I don't think the author knows it too. They had few interactions with each other and none of them helps to justify his feelings. Okay, he once saved Akari from falling as most anime characters do, but it it's not a reason. And to make the thing worse. The synopsis said, "Kazuomi doesn't understand the concept of love and he is dense about these things".
So why will Kazuomi love Akari?
The movie suffers quite a bit from the pacing issue too. The movie is kinda fast-paced than it needs to be. Due to it many of the character interaction seemed forced. The future couples don't have much interaction with each other. A lot of my IRL manga reader friends said a lot of the scenes were cut in the movie. This can be the case but we are not talking about the manga here so it's a con here.
Even though I said earlier that the characters don't have much interaction and when they do have some it's all filled with cliched and cringe dialogues which are simply frustrating to sit through and watch. Just think of any cringe and cliche lines used in romance anime. What can you think of?
- It's okay, you rejected me. I am fine with it. I just wanted to get this off of my heart. (Cries like a bitxh later)
- Please apologise to him/her. He/She did nothing wrong. ( but is shivering with fear ) and characters of the anime will say " Oh wow you were so cool " No it was cringey.
And all of the other things you can think of. It's available in this movie. Yes not even exaggerating.
If you don't know " I love Nitpicking ". Nitpicking is my favourite hobby and something I can do all day. And I have 2 things, in particular, that might not look significant but are something I can't get over with. And both of them is related to Akari's family.
[Spoiler Ahead]
1: In one scene Akari's mom hurriedly comes to the house with a scared look on her face as she thought Rio and Akari were together in the room. So it's kinda obvious she thought they were doing something immoral. But why does she think so?
Is it because Akari's mom knows that Rio loves Akari ? or just because they are 2 people of different sex of the same age? or maybe Rio tried something like that already before? That's something I wanted to know the entire time coz it's not a small deal. The family having no trust is a huge issue that has to be solved but the author forgot that she even included something like that in her story.
2: During the ending part of the story when Akari leaves the house because of her ( Internal Family Quarrels ) you know how and why did she get over with it? Yes, because Kazuomi confessed to her. Yes, as easy as that. If anyone of you is having trouble with family, then just ask your crush to propose to you. They will solve the problem for you.
Kazuomi who has nothing to do with Akari's problem with her family solved it just by confessing to her. Is that how confession and family problem works?
Idk if it does and if it does then my bad but I don't think this is how it's supposed to work.
Moving on from all the criticism I have with it. I do have some positives to say as well.
I am a huge fan of Io Sakisaka's character designs and Bump of Chicken's music. So the movie has pretty great character designs and music (animation is decent too). Lol and that's all about its pros I will say.
I am a huge fan of light-hearted shows in general if you can tell from my favourites, but I think what Io Sakisaka prioritizes in her story is kinda different from what I want from a story ( Hal, Ao Haru Ride and now Omoi omoware furi furare suffering from kinda similar problems for me ) so Io Sakisaka's stories are not something that appeals to me, but it may appeal to a large number of people so I don't want to deny it by saying she is a bad writer.
If you like this movie then good for you it was just not my kind of thing. Well, reviews are not 100% objective.
Thanks for reading.
Have a nice day/night.

" With a Cat and a Dog, Every Day is fun "?
Its more like " With this anime Every Friday is fun "
Pets can cure a bad day. As an owner of a Dog I can really relate to the main character of this anime.
This anime basically is all about our protagonist Matsumoto Hidekichi and her daily life with her 2 pets being a Tsundere Cat and Energetic Cute Little Dog.
I don't know much about Cats so I don't know if Cats being Tsundere is true or not. But it doesn't change the fact that Hidekichi's reaction to Cat's Tsundere moments is freaking funny ... and cute. But as an owner of a Dog I absolutely loved how they presented the Dog as an energetic , always excited and one who always wants to play which is the right way to present. It's not like I am implying that Dogs in real life always wants to play but most of the time they do. And our main character is just a normal girl who loves her pets no matter what they do. Which I absolutely relate to. I love my Dog even if he shits on my bed and I have to do the cleaning. Everything the main character deals with is relatable , funny and cute.
Dogs getting excited to see you back after you went out for few hours , they looking at you excitedly when you are about to clean their shit , they asking for you to pet them etc are something I deal with almost everyday which is presented pretty well in this anime. Hidekichi dealing with Tusndere behaviour of Cat is extremely fun to watch as well. Cat not forgiving her for accidentally sitting on his tail , Cat being jealous of the other pet she got , Cat feeling disgusted of his own shit etc were fun to watch as well even if I have no experience like that IRL.
The Voice acting in this anime is great. As Cat and Dog are VA'ed by 2 of the most well known and praised Voice Actors ( Sugita Tomokazu and Hanazawa Kana ) they absolutely nailed the voices of Dog and Cat according to their character.
Hanazawa Kana's cute high pitched voice completely fits with the energetic nature of a Dog while Sugita Tomokazu's deep antagonistic voice fits with how Cat is presented in the show. And same can be said for the main character as well.
The artstyle in this anime is not remarkable by any means but as it is a 1 and a half minute gag show about 2 pets and an owner the artstyle fits well and its CUTE. The reaction of the MC and the funny faces she makes is only possible because of the artstyle it has. I can't imagine this being as funny as it is now if it actually had great artstyle.
Untill now I have enjoyed every single episode of it. Its relatable, funny and cute and what more do you want from a SoL anime about pets and an owner ?
Inu to Neko is an anime that I am always excited for. And watching this anime really made me love my Dog more and more.
This anime is something I would suggest to everyone no matter if you own a pet or not. Don't let the low average score in this site deceive you. Just watch it. Its 1 and a half minute show. Do it.
Thanks for reading.
Have a good day/night.

[Note: This will have an insane amount of spoiler so people who don't want that stay away from this]
I don't like to review shows that aren't completed coz who knows what's gonna happen next episode. Maybe 1 twist can make me fan of the anime that I hated before and vice-versa. But I am actually forced to review this anime coz I am so annoyed by the positive review this anime has which also contains some 9/10.People really thinks this is GREAT anime ? and one review even said this is a hidden gem of this season. Like WTF ? First thing first this anime ... is kind'a popular to call it hidden gem and second thing if this anime is gem then gem nowadays has no fkcing value.
This is gonna be more like me ranting and bashing on this series than the review. But still lets start.
First thing I would like to point out before I start my rant. The first episode of this anime is actually really good. It starts off as a total My Hero Academia rip off. The world which is assaulted by the monsters called ''Enemy of Humanity'' and to stop that the teenagers with supernatural powers are gathered who are called '' The Talented '' in an school and one of them is Nakajima Nanao who has almost no friend coz almost every author wants to make the characters generic asf. One day a girl named Nana Hiiragi transfers in their school who has the power to read mind and she befriends our guy Nanao. For almost the entirety of the first episode the boy named Nakajima Nanao is presented as the main character of the story. But at the final minute of the episode 1 it is revealed that Nana is actually the main character of the story after she is revealed as the serial killer with no super power who wants to kill all of the '' Enemy of Humanity '' which she thinks are '' The Talented '' people. And it was revealed that she has no superpowers. Her mind reading power is fake and she just has good deductive skills and by using her GIGA BRAIN she will kill every talented student in the school.
And my god I loved that episode. I thought It was gonna be the child of My Hero Academia X Death Note. But my god I was wrong. It is one of the most frustrating shows I have seen in while. Characters are total fools who probably have the brain in their ass.
First thing. Nana is first shown as a girl with power to read mind and she even demonstrate her skills for 2 or 3 times in the class. And after it was revealed that she has no such power. Most of the demonstrations she did in the class looks absolutely illogical. Every student thinks Nana has mind reading power and she don't even need to hear what other says to know what they are gonna say. But still she asks questions like '' What are you trying to say ? , What are you saying etc a lot of times which definitely means she couldn't read mind. But characters in this anime are so dumbfucks that they will just overlook it.
Every time a character dies , dies when they are with Nana and still she isn't the prime suspect. She will say something like '' Oh Enemy of Humanity attacked him from behind and ran away'' and every mfking characters will believe in her. Lets be real if its the first time it is easy to overlook but all of the characters who died were with Nana before they died. And how the fuck Enemy of Humanity only appears infront of Nana and not any other students. How does that makes sense ? If I were in that school no matter what my suspect will be Nana and Nana only coz it is logical and there are enough reasons to suspect her but no one does ( except for 1 guy ). More like most of those students won't even try to investigate about those cases they won't give a shit bout their friends dying.
One character who has power to see future knows Nana is the one killing the guys out there and he even has the proofs but he won't say anything Why ? coz he wants her as a girlfriend. Okay that was frustrating to even hear. His over confidence in his skills got his killed in the end ( serves him right.) But it was all because of his over confidence not the smartness of Nana so it doesn't shows us about how Nana will kill those bastards even tho she is powerless which is the main focus of the story.
Every time Nana kills a character she just gets away with it not because she leaves no traces behind and she always use 100% safe tactics but people just don't care and are just dumb. Using her innocent face and some crocodile tears she is always able to make other believe in her. And every fucking characters believes in her even tho it is obvious Nana has something to do with the guys dying.
I have a 9 yrs old brother and I must say my brother is 2x more smarter than the characters in this anime.
If I were in that school this anime would've ended in ep 2 coz with the things that are happening after Nana came to school and everytime she is with a character they die. I would suspect only her and even 10 years old kid will have enough brain to suspect her.
*Art is mediocre.
*Characters are just 1/10. If I could give it lower than 1 I would give it 0.1/10. Stupid shits. More like the most stupid characters in all of anime.
*Story is kind'a good more like it is enough to make me want to watch it.
*Sound is unmemorable. I already forgot almost every OST.
*Main character is an edgy bitch who is smart because other characters are just too dumb.
Should you watch this anime. Definitely not. Even if you liked Death Note and you are a huge fan of anime like that still don't watch it. It is one of the most frustrating and stupid anime ever.
Thanks for reading.
Have a good day / night.

[Note: I have not read the original source material so I will be reviewing it just based of the anime adaptation. And it contains spoilers]
The God of High School is the second manhwa to get adapted into anime. Even after Tower of God utterly disappointed me I had pretty high hopes for God of High School adaptation.
I was expecting a shounen anime with great premise , world building better than ‘One Piece’ and ‘Hunter x Hunter’ , characters so well written that will put characters of ‘Monster’ and ‘Ping Pong‘ in shame , twists so unpredictable that will keep me shocked for a ... whole month and visuals and action so great that will make ‘ Fate / Zero ‘ look like a low budget work.
Did it lives up to its hype ? What did I get ? A bad anime with only redeeming factor being its fine animation. A show which probably 14 y/o kids will love because it has cool looking fights but everything except that is below average.
First let’s talk about the premise. The God of High School is set in Korea where a tournament is held in order to crown the strongest high school student. Whoever wins the tournament will have his/her one wish granted. People from different places with different abilities gather there in order to become ‘The God of High School‘ and one of those person is our main protagonist Jin Mori. On his way to the tournament he finds and befriends Han Daewi and Yu Mira and they participate in the tournament.
After that the only thing that happens is FIGHTs and that’s all. And the fights are there because…..…. Why not ? kids will obviously appreciate cool fights not because it’s actually necessary to that extent. The pacing for this show is awfully fast. I heard they tried to adapt 11 chapter of Manhwa to single episode which is actually absurd in any case.
Writing characters with great ideology , respectable motivation and backstories which led them to their current situations , relativity etc is most irable quality of an skilled author. Sometimes great characters can even overshadow the weak premise of the show. But this anime fails at this category even more than any other. It is filled with boring , generic and one dimensional characters. I will talk about our main 3 cast individually because they deserves it.
1: Jin Mori
Have you ever watched Dragon Ball ? If you have then you will probably know Goku and if you know Goku then you even don’t have to watch this show to know Jin Mori as Jin is A to Z copy of Goku.
. Jin is carefree kid who is obsessed with fighting stronger people so is Goku.
. Jin eats a lot and has bottomless stomach so does Goku.
. Jin was raised by his Grandpa so was Goku.
. Jin at first seems to be some normal guy with some martial art ability but later he turns out to be some overpowered dude who isn’t aware of his own strength so was Goku.
. Jin is loud , funny sometimes but acts dumb most of the times so is Goku.
That’s all. This is the entirety of Jin’s character. His motive in ing the tournament is as bland as his character. He interferes into other people’s affair when its none of his business, Why you ask ? because he is shounen protagonist and the author wanted him to make as generic as he could possibly make. Did you guys find him interesting ? If you did then fine by me but I really couldn’t find him interesting at all even tho I wanted to.
2: Yu Mira
Yu Mira is your typical tsundere girl who is there just to annoy the living shit out of the viewer. She is a hot headed girl and gets pissed at everything Jin and Han does. And Jin and Han will say nothing, Why ? because they are good friends.
She ed the tournament in order to revive her late father’s Moonlight Sword art which was his dying wish. And she will possibly do anything to grant her father’s wish even if she has to marriage some unknown guy and quit the tournament. But after hearing our main character saying ‘’ Oh you are so strong you can do it by yourself. Why quitting after we came this far together in the tournament ’’. She will change her mind , Whyyy ? If your only reason on ing the tournament was to revive your father’s sword style and if you marry to that guy your wish would have been granted then why not do it. What’s the reason for not doing so ? That’s something I hated about her only character arc ( more like character episode.) which was supposed for fleshing out her character and maybe bless her with some character development, which was the only way of changing my feelings for her after I got annoyed by her the entire time. But they failed to do so. She is still just another generic annoying tsundere girl who has to be there just for sake for some fan service and to annoy the viewer.
3: Han Daewi
Han Daewi easily is the best among 3 bad written characters. He is your everyday ‘’ Oh I am quiet mouthed yet badass character ’’. And I always had a bad time liking these kind of guys. He ed the tournament in order to save his friend who is hospitalized and is in verse of death. Which is something that I can’t possibly criticize about. After he finds about that his friend died ‘’ He beats the living crap out of his another friend Yu Mira whose marriage he and Jin just spoiled some minutes ago. ‘’. But his friend wasn’t even actually dead. His whole backstory and his character arc was wrapped up in 1 single episode which negatively affect’s on how me as a viewer can care about his relation with his old ill friend. Due to its extremely fast pace, I just found it being forced for the sake of his development and I couldn’t care less about his relation with his ill friend.
To wrap everything up. Just like Daewi’s relation with his ill friend, the relation of our main 3 cast felt kind’a forced, they met and became friends for the sake of story not because they had enough interactions with each other. Side characters in this show are more uninteresting than the main casts. Everyone of them have no personality other than one single trait that defines them. Motivation of the most characters are left unexplained because the show focuses on mindless fighting instead of fleshing out the characters while the characters whose motivations are explained are most of the time UNINTERESTING.
And how can I expect a shouen anime to not have the shounen’s most powerful weapon which can beat 1000’s years of villain’s training and battle knowledge aka ‘’Power of Friendship’’. Yea did you expect The God of High School to not have that shit here ? Then you will be disappointed. When an opponent beats our main casts because they knew their weakness and after getting few hits or so our main casts will overcome that weakness for the sake of story not because there is any logical reason behind it.
There is one fight between Jin Mori and Park Ilpyo.
Park Ilpyo being Jin Mori’s senpai. He had more battle skills and was overall stronger than Mori but for some reason Mori beats him and the moment after he beats him Ilpyo unlocks a new power which seems similar to Naruto’s sage form + Nine Tails and starts beating crap out of Mori and he actually overwhelms Mori in the fight but for the sake of being Protagonist he had to win that fight. How would you do it ? Give him some unknown power ups baby. For some reason Mori unlocks an power that he himself isn’t aware of and beat the shit of out of Ilpyo and he isn’t aware of his power even after the fights. And was left unexplained.
There is another fight between Yu Mira and Lee Marin.
For some reason Lee Marin annihilates Yu Mira for majority of the fight. And then ‘’ She gets some flashbacks , she yell ‘ Oh I will catch up to them’, I am weak that’s why I want to get stronger, I have to win’’ and all those bullshits and as expected she unlocks new unexplained power and then she one shots Lee Marin. Like WTF ? I have seen this shit 10000 times in shounen anime. Stop this shit already. Just explain the power ups logically or just let the character use some insane battle IQ’s to beat the opponent rather than relying on asspulls.
Talking about its character designs. It’s actually pretty decent but the red nose and ears doesn’t even fit and it just looks awkward to watch. They just looks drunk because of the red nose and ear. Props for that unique yet bad idea. But talking about my issue with almost every anime is that the personality of a certain character can be predicted by his/her outfit and his/her physical looks. And that’s something I always had issues with. And God of High School does it too.
If a character has evil intent and is threat to our protagonists then, why not give them scar in his face ? It will make them look more evil.
If a character is smart ass then, why not let him wear glasses and carry books even when he is going to shit ? It will make him look smarter.
If a girl is bad bitch then, why not let her wear half jean pants and chew gum the entire time ?
Fuck that! Just show me about their personality through their activities not their physical looks. I know at this point I am just nitpicking but it’s something I personally can’t outlook. It’s okay if its fine for you guys but it’s just not for me. If I can predict someone’s personality just through their looks then I just lose my interest on them for the most part.
Now about its animation which is easily it’s only redeeming factor. I actually never focus more on the animation so I have less knowledge about what makes good animation and what makes bad. But The God of High School has pretty good animation atleast in the fights. Maybe they used most of their budget in the fights that anything except for the fights has underwhelming animation. And the backgrounds art get affected the most. Except that the animation is pretty cool. Fight are well choreographed and looks cool to see. The whole reason to have a good animation is to make viewer have better experience and MAPPA did pretty good job on that.
The soundtracks in this anime is forgettable. To be exact I have already forgot most of the soundtracks. The only 2 that I is it’s Opening and Ending. And I have complete different opinion on both of them. I never thought I would even talk about the opening and ending of an anime but let’s do it.
Opening : I actually didn’t liked the opening song. It failed to impress me in both visual and audial department. It tried to pull the song that hypes the fuck out of the viewer after listening it be it from the cool looking visuals and sound. But completely failed to do so. Not to mention the only thing that happens in the song is fights and I am not even kidding.
Ending: The Ending song for this is actually really great. It has catchy song with great visuals. And actually shows something other than fights. It shows the relationship between our main 3 characters with their closed one. Mira's being with her family , Han being with his friend and Jin being alone he is shown to just sleep at the roof. Which really impressed me and it also shows the interactions between our 3 protagonist , how they have fun and how they spend time with each other. Which I have nothing but respect and love for.
Even after shitting in it the entire time. I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoyed it at all. I didn’t enjoyed it enormously but I enjoyed it quite a bit. I really enjoyed the fights , I enjoyed some comedic moments and I enjoyed ing and listening to the ending song for straight 100 times. But I still ended up having negative feelings about it.
Overall if you watch The God of High School expecting only good fights and nothing else it won’t disappoint you. If you want to turn off the brain and watch cool fights and can ignore issue like fast pacing , poorly written characters , weak premise etc then The God of High School is good anime for you. If you want anime with great cast then, watch ‘Ping Pong’ or ‘Monster’. If you want to watch anime with incredible animation and choreography then watch ‘Fate/Zero’, if you want an anime with compelling story then watch ‘March Comes in Like a Lion’. If you are going to watch The God of High School looking for these then you will be wasting your time.
TL;DR
Story: 2/10 : Nothing much only mindless fighting.
Character: 2/10 : Generic , boring , one dimensional.
Artstyle / Animation: 6/10 for artstyle and 7/10 for animation: Good choreographed fights and animation aside from fights are underwhelming.
Enjoyment: 4/10 : Has some cool fights , decent comedy moments, pretty enjoyable.
Sound: 5/10 : Ending is great. Opening is bad. Rest are forgettable.
Overall: 4/10 : Watch this if you want only good fights.
Thanks for reading.
Have a good day/night.

(Note: At the moment I am reviewing this I have completed every single seasons of Gintama so I am reviewing the Gintama as a whole series not just Season 1.)
Its finally time to write my first review. And what will be more better than reviewing my personal favorite show of all time. I am bias towards Gintama but I will not let my feelings make an unfair argument here. So lets start.
Have you ever seen an anime that jokes about and makes fun about not only other anime but even itself ?
Have you ever seen anime wasting first 5 minutes so that it won't catch ... upto its manga and character themselves it they are wasting time ?
Have you ever seen an anime where the characters talk about how hard it is to make fillers episodes ?
Sounds bizarre right ?
And what will happen if a certain someone take all the bizarre ideas all around and try to create an anime with those ? GINTAMA will be the result.
GINTAMA is the anime series adapted by studio Sunrise in April 4th 2006 based on the Manga by the same name written by author Sorachi Hideaki in Dec 8th 2003 and was recently ended it June 20th 2019. Gintama was published in Weekly Shounen Jump at the same time when ( The Shounen's Big 3 aka. Bleach , One Piece and Naruto ) were dominating the charts. But still Gintama was able to create its own place at that time and was able to run for entire 15+ years even tho it probably had offended thousands of anime fans and even other authors through its parodys. Which is pretty huge feat of its own.
# The Premise.
Gintama is set in Edo period of Japan which was invaded by the aliens called Amantos and even after the full attempts of the samurais they weren't able to stop the Amantos which results in pretty much ban of swords and spirit of samurai. Even after that there is 1 guy who still carries the spirit of samurai named Sakata Gintoki a reckless dude with a sweet tooth who also is the founder of Yorozuya aka Odd Jobs. As name suggest he will do anything as a job. Later, Gintoki is ed by Shimura Sinpachi a young Dojo owner and Kagura a member of universe's strongest clan Yato a species who carries super inhuman strength but also are weak against sunlight. Our 3 odd jobs together with the help of many many other characters makes all sorts of crazy and bizarre plays all around the Edo.
After giving short synopsis lets talk about its PROS.
*The Characters.
By far the strongest aspect of the Gintama is its huge yet varied cast of characters and character interactions. Not just wide and varied but are insanely interesting and funny.
As Gintama 90% of the time is comedy anime. The characters plays major role in the comedy being hit or miss. But finding one uninteresting , boring character in Gintama that you will hate is more difficult than finding One Piece. The main problem I have with the most shounen anime is that it stops focusing on its side characters and only focuses on the main cast and waste the potential of the ing characters. But Gintama is rare case where the side character are all nearly freshed out as much as the main cast if not equally. The chemistry between our 3 protagonist is perfect. Shinpachi is a straight man of the group and always seems to talk through reasons and logic but other 2 all sums up as Kagura being reckless , violent girl and Gintoki being just a cashless bump who don't pay rent to the landlord and salary to his 2 friends and spend days reading Jump and Drinking but also is heavily deep character which also makes him my favorite anime character of all time. And as I have already mentioned before not only the 3 main casts but every characters in Gintama are lovable and has own interesting personality to them. The cast can varies from a mayonnaise addicted police officer to stalker ninja to idiot Joi rebels to stalker police officer to even author himself ( Author himself is an minor character of the series.)which has awesome chemistry between each other. These characters won't work on most of the anime but it does works on Gintama. Why ? Because absurdity is the first nature of Gintama.
*The Comedy. ( Parodys and References.)
Many people consider Gintama to be the pinnacle of comedy anime and more likely god of comedy and parodys. Even tho I too agree on that one but is that objectively true ? Ofc not but it is an arguable opinion.
Gintama for the most part is an comedy anime that makes fun about almost anything they can make of. From making fun of author itself to making fun of the voice actors. Madao (a major character) wears a sunglasses and have a same voice actor as Gendo from NGE so guess what they will make a Gendo joke. Take nothing seriously in Gintama, if you do you will regret. They will fake its ending for more than 4 times in most emotional way and then at last they will reveal it and say f**k off its all joke and make fun of viewers themsevles.
Gintama uses the wide variety of the humor from poop jokes to some simple usual light hearted gags. They will spend one whole episode about mind games of deception on sharing foods with each other.
They will spend whole episode on how to make people pee on the exact place of the toilet.
They will spend whole arc on the result of the popularity pool.
They will spend whole episode about a guy running around universe just to buy cigarettes and guess what he will beat Breeza and will go to search for Slippery Balls to revive Grillin. (DBZ reference)
Fights using dialogue boxes and all the bizarre ideas you can think off.
Gintama uses parodys to its finest. It will parodys popular shounen like Bleach , Naruto , games like Dragon Quest, historic pop cultures and many others.
*The Serious Arcs and the change in tone.
Gintama is mostly comedy anime but it has good amount of dark moments. It is balanced between its serious and comedic arcs. What really appeals to me about Gintama is more of its serious arcs then its comedic ones. When the comedy episodes of Gintama are insanely hilarious the serious arcs are mindblowingly amazing.
The serious arcs in Gintama focuses on the growth of the character and their backstories which helps in knowing the character better than ever. When comedy episodes are full of comedy and top tier humor. Serious arcs are full off epic drama , epic action scenes and not to mention the emotional moments that will hit you hard.
Gintama can change the tone very efficiently.
Gintama can make fun of the character and make poop jokes and kill him in most emotional way in the very same episode without looking forced.
How author changes the tone of the story is worthy of the praise. And not to mention author was able to maintain the same amount of balance between serious arcs and comedy arcs for so long makes it even more worthy of praise.
*The Sound. (Voice Acting , OP,ED)
Gintama has probably the best voice acting in my opinion as the voice acting perfectly fits with the personality of every characters.
Openings and Endings in Gintama is really good and yes all of them..
As it is Gintama it won't even spare OP and ED from its jokes.
Some openings are total hype and some are aesthetically creative (for example op 13 , 14 , 16, 17 etc). But some are the results of Gintama's absolute absurdity.
Sometime Gintoki will demand to start the opening as opening wasn't played for 8 minutes inside the episode. And sometimes the opening will have lowest quality possible because someone killed the mangaka. (watch op 8 to be exact).
The other OST's in Gintama perfectly fits it as well. For instance for comedy moments Hata's ost perfectly fits. While for emotional moments OST 4 , 1 and 18 are some of the best OST I have ever heard and believe me or not I will tear up everytime I hear those OST's.) Soundtracks in Gintama is absolute 10/10.
Seems like I have given some reasons on why Gintama is good.
Even tho Gintama is my favorite anime and I rated it 10/10. Its still far from perfect. I can still think of some of its cons. As no anime is objectively perfect. Its time to point some CONS of Gintama.
*Lackluster animation in starting season.
First season of Gintama has cut corners probably due to low budget.
Its not of a big deal for the most of the time as Gintama is mostly comedy and comedy doesn't relies on the animation quality. But in the serious arcs it becomes a massive flaw of the series which needs to have good animations for the fights and action scenes. Sometimes the fights in Gintama uses near still frames. Animation quality rapidly increases as time goes on but the animation of first 201 episode is massive flaw of the series that's pretty hard to outlook on.
*Slow and boring start.
While I personally do enjoy Gintama from the very beginning. I must agree that the first few episodes of Gintama is boring and slow. And took around 60 episode to actually show serious arc and was filled with gags and parodys. Which I can try to defend by saying that Gintama has hell'a huge cast and slow start about 60 episodes serves the purpose of introducing and freshing out the character and show their relation with our main casts. So in my eyes it is pretty reasonable for it to have slow start but its just my opinion. But I will say its one of its cons.
*Hit or Miss jokes.
As Gintama is massive 367 episode anime and having perfect consistency in its comedy is impossible not every episode can have perfect consistency. So Gintama do have some incredibly boring episodes filled with jokes with no sense of humor. But again I do want to defend it. Gintama is a Japanese anime and anime fans are all around the world. So Ginatama has many jokes and references about the Japanese culture that only japanese people can get. And non-Japanese fans won't get the joke or reference and will just look like its trying to be funny but it is not funny. And also as Gintama is full of parody and parodys every anime they can think of the newcomers who haven't watched the anime that Gintama is parodying then they will probably won't find it any funny.
#Final Thoughts
GINTAMA in my eyes is greatest anime ever made. Everything from its characters to fights to drama to soundtracks everything in GINATAMA is memorable. As GINTAMA is pretty high rated in this site. First 5 seasons of GINTAMA are placed in 3rd , 5th , 7th , 9th and 11th spot. And has rated higher than classics like Galactic Heroes , Cowboy Bebop , Monster , Gurren Lagann , Evangelion etc. Does GINTAMA really deserves all of those ? I can't say for sure and I wont say Gintama is flawless Masterpiece if anything Gintama is odd and weird anime to watch and to get into with lot of flaws and cringe comedies. But still how much I enjoyed this and how much I learned from the characters easily makes it my favorite anime and I am proud to call it my favorite one.
So combining everything I just said and even including its cons and how much I enjoyed it . GINTAMA is easily 10/10 for me and something that everyone should experience.
Thanks for reading. Have a good day everyone.
