Note: I hate quantifying a manga scoring in multiple categories - story/characters/pacing etc - because to me that's just min-max type of scrutiny that dilutes the holism of the entire work. So, I'm going to score the entire manga as a whole and nothing else and tell you why I liked the manga.

I'm so sad I finished Seto Utsumi. The way Seto Utsumi has made me feel during the last few days is the sort of feeling you get knowing this was one of the "peaks" you just so happened to have come across.

Seto Utsumi is just incredible. Two boys, one riverside, a few hours ... to the time. That's it. That's the premise. But that's the premise of life too, isn't it? One place, One person, Time to kill, nonsensical talks - That's it. That's Seto Utsumi in its entirety. But it's so captivating, so heartwarming - mainly because every character in this manga is realistic - Seto is supposed to be a funny comic relief who doesn't think too much but he's also incredibly thoughtful and emotionally aware, Utsumi is supposed to be an intelligent know-it-all stoic but is capable of some of the best humour in the series (just this word: Gorilla).

The Art is awesome and perfectly captures that unmoving, steady, background neighbourhood vibe.

I'm just sad it had to end. So sad.

Also, it has an ending that is incredibly clever and makes you wanna go back and read it all over again with new information that you now have. It's awesome.

If you haven't read it or are on the fence - don't be. Just read it. It's just two guys, one riverbank, time to kill, and nonsensical realistic talks (not deep, just realistic).

It has the capability of being life-changing.

prolly one of those works that truly justifies the tag hidden gem.

finally finished a manga long after Insomniacs after school. A very unique manga. maybe make a special genre for it, Its like reading a stand up routine between 2 guys (the goofy and the straight guy) talking about the most random-est shit known to mankind, it might not be your cup of tea but its worth a try if you lovely watching stand ups but this time you'll be reading it, just 2 guys beings guys. just 2 friends being friends. whole manga is a lovely conversation.
The art is clean and simple, perfectly ... suits the requirement and the plot? there is no plot, its what you can say "episodic" but it all ties up in the end, wont spoil that now

I've not much to say, but this is genuinely a manga I deeply relate to. I think my time in school matches this style of story. Everyone has their own struggles and perspective which can be revealed in mundane but interesting conversation. There is a sudden turn at the end of the manga with multiple reveals, which shows the characters hidden sides and gives it a bold thematic conclusion. I'll try to have this sort of attitude in my daily life.

This is a guy centric story, so it's not for everyone but it's relatable. Most of the story takes place on some stairs at the ... side of the road, and all the characters appear more than once, so the story has some brewing elements even past the lighter jokes in the chapters. I value this for the characters and the way their worries and insecurities interact with each other in a casual way. The odd elements of life are brought up and considered in a bemused and bittersweet feeling.
