Almost every update, there's nothing new to fill the table, but dark-horses really like to show up from the shadows. That dark horse may be fairly new, but the bar for the unprecedented potential is there. It may be basically a Mr. and Mrs. Smith approach, but goddamn, it's unique! Spy X Family; a read entertains its readers not just for the aesthetics, but also for the appeal and really comedic story the manga has to offer.

Spy X Family basically has two things: 1) No matter what your job is, raising a kid is still the hardest and 2) Every plan can be executed even without a plan.

Logically speaking, the manga has believable scenarios especially portraying how underground work works. Developing a nice pace and it's really enjoyable. Also having a kid is a pain in the ass, but having an esper kid? You can plead for help.

No action is wasted frame by frame and page to page. The artist is really good at giving life to the work while the readers can follow the story without getting confused. The romance scenes are on the spot with the "sparkles-sparkles" moments and it's basically eye-candy.

What else can I say? A moe kid that can do supernatural shit? That what I signed up for! If you are a fan of Saiki, Hinamatsuri, and Mob Psycho, there's no short of supply in of comedy in this one. The whole story gave the enjoyment I wanted since I've been reading alot of rom-coms nowadays. Endou Tatsuya, you a f****** god, man.

Overall, this is outstandingly impressive. I RECOMMEND THIS PIECE OF ART TO EVERYONE!

There is so much hype surrounding the anime from episode one that, when I didn't get it, I turned to the manga.

62 chapters in and here is my tally.

Number of completed missions = 2 (boat mission, Tennis mission)

Number of character arcs completed = 2 (The dog got an arc, the boy's sidekicks got a character moment)

Number of side missions completed = 1 (Nightfall got some leads)

... Progress towards Mission Strix = -1 (one star, two thunderbolts. No friendship advancement past the intro episode.)


This is the tally of 62 chapters for something that is very clear cut. In other words this manga is 99% filler with the characters taking one step forward and one step back to maintain the status quo. Nobody is allowed to change or develop, the characters are smart when it suits them then dumb as rocks when any sign of plot development happens.

To give it credit the situations and gags are entertaining but sadly go nowhere.

This is an ok manga but it's nothing I would a year from now.

I was thinking about this series one day, then a certain question came up; what is actually good about this series? After some deliberation, I realised not much. The artstyle is nice maybe but that's it.

The comedy comprises each character repeating the same gag over and over again: The Franky guy is an ugly incel who tries to get girls and fails everytime + is disrespected by everyone which should be hilarious yet it somehow fails, Anya reading people's minds then making LE SHOCKED FACE, Becky and Fiona lusting after Loid etc etc. Almost none of the gags are ever funny and they're repetitive ... to the point it's frustrating. Fiona imagining hersef whipping Anya was kinda funny tho but that's it pretty much.

There's no real story progression, it's just slice of life and chills. I'm like 100 or so chapters in and pretty much nothing has happened yet. The characters are mostly one-note comedy gags, maybe sometimes they'll have a sad backstory. Because of the lack of progression, the characters have yet to do much interesting, all that's happened so far is Loid/Yor are both involved with Donovan's wife now and Anya has won a couple stellar stars but that's pretty much it. The action is generally boring, Twilight and Yor are overpowered so they always win effortlessly but the coach hijack arc was alright. Which is concerning considering Spy x Family is supposed to be an action series

Overall, Spy x Family is a bad comedy series and a bad action series. It doesn't really do anything well.
