Saotome Senshu is not bad, but it kind of ends out of nowhere, so you're left feeling that you wanted more of this. I really wanted more, but it's a really good manga. You won't regret reading this one; it is funny and good. I honestly would recommend everyone read this one.

The art is very good. It starts off a bit disappointing, but gradually it begins to improve more and more, and it ends up being very good. Really good. To the point where the characters are well-drawn, you feel their embarrassment, and, in the end, it's quite fun.

It..is a great manga, read it I don't know you will regret it, most likely you will cry or want to cry at the end.

Art:I feel that within the artistic section, we have a great drawing in of the action and romantic parts, this style is unique

Story:The story is not unique, it is not repetitive, it does not try to be pretentious, it is actually a somewhat simple story, but within that simplicity there is something unique that makes this manga incredible

Character:The characters sometimes commit the sin of being repetitive or somewhat simple, but over the course of the work we see how they ... unravel and show us layers of their personality, there are characters who did not have much time but did have enough time to become fond of them

Oppinion:Would I recommend this manga to someone? Of course, a million times, it's such a wonderful work in its genre, I've never been a fan of the boxing or romance genre, the only ones I know are Hajime no Ippo and Goutobun no Hanayome, but Saotome Senshu, Hitakakusu, has become in my favorite

edit: I feel like an anime would have been fantastic.. too bad that would never happen..

I don't get it. I don't get the hype. It has a bland story. Almost no romance. No comedy.

A little more about it. The story is meh, at best. I'm not saying you can't enjoy it, I'm saying it is meh. Bland. There is something that seems like the start of some plot elements, but in the end its light, bland, meh. Some forced drama, but still light.
Next, no romance. Some cutely scenes, but thats it. You can't say that makes it a romance. Imagine a 2-hours war movie with 5 minutes of some people hugging and calling it a romance. Yes, the ... last chapters make you happy/giddy/whatever, but still it can't be called romance.
No comedy. Some funny moments, some comedic actions, but thats no comedy.
The art style is ok, I guess. Nice designs, the action scenes are good.

And thats about it. A little bit too long, meh story. Yes, you might get a little excited along the way (mostly towards the end chapters), but still not enough to understand the hype. I guess people are still confusing "I like" with "good media". You can also like bad media (manga), there's nothing wrong with that, but do know the difference.
I'll go with "mixed feelings" and a (barely) 5 rating, just for the sake of it. I mean, its not bad, but I wouldn't recommend it either. Its almost like a waste of time. You can read it to time, or just to read stuff. Or maybe for the art?
