Maebashi Witches

Yuina Akagi is an ordinary high school freshman in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture—until a talking frog named Keroppe appears and throws an unexpected proposal her way:

"Why don't you become a witch?"

Before she knows it, Yuina's closet becomes a gateway to a mysterious world, where she meets four other girls—each with their own quirks and magical potential. There's the fiery Azu Niisato, the level-headed Kyouka Kitahara, the ever-optimistic Choco Mitsumata, and the carefree Mai Kamiizumi.

Together, they form the Maebashi Witches, a group dedicated to granting people's wishes through magic, music, and a bit of mayhem. Their base of operation? A charming little flower shop in the heart of the shopping district—where the flowers of the heart can finally bloom.

With a little magic and a lot of heart, their new life as witches is about to begin.

I usually judge an anime based on how much I enjoy it.. and I think the story, artwork and music are at least at the higher tier level.
Although I won't say that the story is like great, but it is workable with it's twist. The music and the harmony of the voices (The idols) is top tier to me. If you're watching just to relax and not think so much, I think it's kinda good.. The story development is kinda making progress and I do find myself liking characters like Azu more now.. If you're someone who is working and wanted something just to relax ... and enjoy Japanese music in general (Not all the songs are very idol-ish) , I think you can try for it.

Preliminary (5/12 eps)

This anime has a lot of things to offer such as great visuals, stories, etc. But what I'm mostly interested is the character design and the visuals. Everything is so AMV material.

Honestly though, i'm surprised not many people watched this anime. It's so fun, i'm really happy that we got a proper magical girl series. This will be my favorite anime. But i do aware there's one sensitive thing that mention in episode 2 that maybe make people thinking twice to continue this anime.

I think this is recommended for people who like slice of life and magical girl fans. This also could be reference ... for your art.

Preliminary (5/12 eps)

The biggest surprise anime of the season. I'm shocked by its sheer amount quality and originality. The animation and art are clean and colourful. The 3D animation used in the short magic sequences is wonderfully choreographed and the models are 2D-fied with perfect outlining magic. The premise is the first of its kind yet fits into the magical girl genre perfectly. The pacing is fast yet doesn't miss a beat. Everything and everything is done with such precision, I could immediately tell this anime is made with an ambitious vision.

Despite the cartoonishly noisy main girls, the anime pursues a high degree of realism for ... its subject, tackling topics that are very relevant to the youth and female audience. The drama is spiced up with good amount of unlikable characters, but held back a little right on the wholesome borderline. I believe the anime can be enjoyed by a wide range of audiences. Unfortunately, most of them will turn away at the constantly annoying characters, extremely fast-paced introductory episode and vague, seemingly shallow conclusions.

Among the original anime that came out this season, I would easily put Maebashi Witches at the top. It's relatively spicy for a magical girl/idol/band show, but the high quality production makes it worth watching. Banger OP. Solid original song in episode 5. I dare say this is the anime of the year so far. Highly recommended for drama fans.
