Hibike! Euphonium 3: Extra Episodes

This series of ~5 mins long shorts that came with the bluray mainly attempts to put an epilogue to the main storyline. It adds some crucial extra info on some characters, but by and large the point of this was some extra fanservice (not that kind mind you) showcasing cute moments. The first and last episodes are more serious toned and an episode in between can be considered vital (watch to find out why). It sheds some light on what our girls our doing after the events of S3.

The series has little animation (not that it needed to) but manages to tell whatever it was ... trying to tell. Must watch for fans of the original series.

Unlike the specials for the previous two seasons that mostly focus on comedy, these six shorts are more serious in telling, each unrolling a unique story about the characters.

The way these stories are told is different from that of the main season with forceful clashes and confrontations. These stories slow the pace down. It's like taking a snapshot at a certain point in time, listening to the characters talking about their most minute and most beautiful feelings.

These shorts have very little animation, but the way one keyframe fades into the next really amplifies the ephemeral nature of these precious emotions, and, I think, fits the ... theme very well.

If you like the main series, you should definitely watch these specials as well.
