Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko!

Childhood friends Tomo Aizawa and Junichirou "Jun" Kubota do everything together, whether it be training or just enjoying a fun day out. Anyone would think that these two are best friends for life. The only issue is that the tomboyish Tomo is in love with Jun, but he regards her like a brother.

At the start of their first year of high school, Tomo confesses her feelings to Jun. However, her rough mannerisms and lack of hesitance to throw a punch do nothing to sway Jun's heart. Realizing that he will remain indifferent to her affections unless she does something about it, Tomo must find a way to knock some sense into Jun and open his eyes to what is right in front of him.

Got back into the romance genre after some time of watching Isekai genres. Refreshing to say when watching tomo-chan plots. Even though it is a slice of life with romance involved added being tomo-chan being a tomboy which i am loving it with how it delve into the world of remaining best friends and in a relationship.

It opened my eyes to see that while yes the bonds one make as friend isn't what it used to be when the friendship was new but it doesn't mean it is ultimately nonexistent. Only it takes a new form of mash up (mix) between the two and ... allows the personality of the relationship to be there but much more cherished to around them. While yes there will be some ups and downs but that is where the friendship part comes in, both characters know their boundaries and have s to help guide them back on the right track. Keeping the friendship alive stems the cheeky rivalry you can have with their significant other.

Growing up, i used to think that getting into a relationship you have to be textbook perfect kinda person, where you have to be appealing and have to be head over heels for the significant other but now that is not the case. You grow attach to them for who you are and they acknowledge your ways and enjoy being around with you during the good and bad times.

Every episode of watching this season has been exhilarating because of that realization and cheering the couple on their successful obstacle in getting their love in the end.

Truly love it.

Mixed Feelings

Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko, Tomo is a Girl!, is nothing really special.

The overall story is pretty generic and common. I’d consider the romance to be a slow burn, some people like that and some don’t. What I will commend this anime for, is clearly depicting characters realising their feelings. Watching this anime will allow you to truly witness what it means to go from best friends to lovers.

This also features two great side characters, with their own stories and feelings that are actually a lot deeper than you would think.

The voice actors did a very good job in this anime too.

Although this review ... list labeled as “mixed feelings”, it leans more towards “recommended”.

Overall, yes, the story is basic and it is a slow burn which might throw some of you off. However, I still think this anime would be worth giving a shot because there is more to an anime besides the overarching plot. Take your time, watching this anime and maybe you’ll like it more than you thought you would’ve.

In general, is a forgettable anime. Typical romantic comedy without any difference from other regular shows of the same genre, the only difference with them is the plot of "a really strong tomboy as main char" and all the jokes will be around that idea. The story is left with an open end, it won't get a second season and nobody will care about that.

This anime es without trouble or fanfare, not being good or bad, simply mediocre. It's like popcorn without salt, you can eat it but it won't taste at all.

Regular art and animation, regular characters, regular plots. If you enjoy most of ... the animes from this genre you probably will enjoy it, maybe you will even love it. If you where looking for something better than the average this won't be your show.
