Yi Nian Yong Heng

surprised this is not #1 ONA. character development is amazing; how the MC acts in the early part of the show compliments the development of his strength and character so perfectly it's hard to explain. only thing I can say bad about it is that after thinking I have seen all the best 2d Donghua I found this gem, and after completing it and searching for weeks I feel like I peeked and won't find a better one. every scene has beautiful art, the animation and design of the fight scenes especially during the 2nd half of the season are some of the best I've ... ever seen. this will be a top 20 series and have been trying to get everyone I know on it! hope this gets at least 10 seasons!:]

For non-Xianxia novel fan:

It's a fair descent anime, could do better. I'm on ep 13 currently, it was just ing through it. I'm a huge fan of "A Will Eternal" novel, so don't expect a good marks from me. You know how animation production works: they cut corners, lack of budget and f-up the original piece. But, if you don't care all that, it is an enjoyable piece.

DO NOT EXPECT MUCH!
Even the character building is different, filled with samples and stupid fast pace storyline. Bai Xiaochun in this animated series is somewhat simplistically dumb, uncollected, undecisive and resolve to cringey ... scream to gain strength like some sh*tty cliché character...!

Imagine they even tried to insert epic music while he was walking with some sh*tty explosions in the background as he was walking slowly, looking dumb af towards an enemy. And of course, he then off to some cringed screaming and suddenly became invisible!!!

IT'S THAT F*CKING SH*t, STUPIDLY CRINGED, OVER-DRAMATIC AND LOW HOW HE WOULD BE PORTRAYED!!!

If you are looking for some amazing world building with dashing, nonchalant, yet goofy character building of the MC, Just don't! Leave...

It's a series of pathetically try-hard comedy/cringe episodes.

I tried to tolerate the fast pacing plots, changing storyline but the character building failure is too much for me.

I will leave it at that... Sigh... With a snap of a finger, they, the animators, reduced our patriarch's character to ashes... Shame... Shame...

This is hard to watch.

The protagonist is the definition of gary sue - he's a genius for no real reason, always succeeds vs people who trained for years because plot, people help him either because he bugs them enough or because they are somehow put in his debt by plot. He never encounters real adversity, because he always comes out on top anyway with little struggle and absolutely 0 personal cost.

It's a lesson in how not to do "Show, don't tell" - so so so so much is glossed over, explained (if at all) in a line of dialog. Maybe a 15s flashback if lucky.

the ... animation is so n so. The backgrounds are probably the better part of the anime.

the story is brought down by the gary sue protagonist - up till now it doesn't seem to be really going nowhere, it's more of a hero's journey without villains or struggle.

the chinese dub and the audio is kinda atrocious - it's not as bad as some american one i guess, but it's far far far from japanese stuff.

All in all, i would not advise other people to watch it, instead play amazing cultivation simulator.
