Quanzhi Gaoshou Specials

The All-Star Tournament is a three-day event that allows e-sports participants from various professional clubs to display their skills, while also giving casual Glory players the chance to interact with pros in the flesh.

Retired top-tier Glory player Ye Xiu agrees to watch the tournament together with Tang Rou and Chen Guo after the latter manages to get ahold of three tickets. It is a strange sensation for Ye Xiu, as unlike previous occasions, this time he attends the tournament as a spectator, not a participant. However, despite his attempts to keep a low profile, events in the All-Star Tournament may force the former Glory legend back into the limelight.

This had to be one of the best OVA/ONAs I have ever seen for any anime

Before I start, I would like to add the fact that I was planning on writing a review for the main anime, but I never got to it, so some of my opinions of the first season will also be put in here if it is suitable. I assume that everyone here has watched the 1st season, because why would you be here otherwise.

even tho this ONA follows the story of the main anime, it introduces something that the main story doesn't have that much of, detailed one on ... one PVPs that doesn't only show the in game side, but also the player. In the last episode, the fight between Rou Tang and the pro player even gave me initial D flash backs when the player's real life stamina was mentioned. This gives the in game fights more of a realistic feel as the power levels and the abilities of characters are never clearly explained to the viewers(Which is a good thing). I'm looking forward to this story telling technique being used further into the series as the anime seems to be shifting its weight more towards the competitive side of the game.

In of the storyline in these 3 episodes, nothing really sticks out. However, the few progresses made are very crucial to the season 2 release and the main storyline as the esports team that has been hinted at is officially created in the last scene. Not only does this allow us to get an idea for that's to come, but it also fixes up a few things that were not fully concluded such as Xiu Ye's hidden identity towards Guo Chen and Rou Tang.

As someone who lived in China for the first 12 years of my life, I really didn't like any Chinese anime till a few weeks ago. In fact, I used to preferred Japanese anime OVER Chinese anime because I didn't have to listen to the awkward voice acting in Chinese anime. The king's avatar however, has perfect voice acting which made me laugh at times, and emotional at others, it's not forced and fits in with how people actually talk in Mandarin. This is what we need more of to come out of China. I'm very proud of this anime both as a casual anime viewer and someone who is Chinese.

Over all, this is an anime serious that I will keep on watching and hopefully enjoying.

Awesome anime about the world of the professional game industry. As a fan of this type of events. I loved the anime and this Special episodes.

There's no much bad things to say, just that maybe sometimes it's a bit lazy or boring and the art could be better. Even though, the fights effects are awesome and flashy.

We get to know a lot of characters and their goals, the oaths and the pressure of each one of them to be there and fight at the maximum level of play.

Epicness in battles and the thrill to get to know the mysterious main character, the one ... that stood unbeaten in the top. You want to know more about the story, and the past of this characters and how it would be developed the future.

, games are not only for kids. <3

Mixed Feelings

Having loved the first season, i was very eager to see this second season.

It is short, and deserves being called a OVA more then a 2nd season tbh.

The story is as always interesting, who doesnt enjoy the path of a betrayed hero back to the top while those who discarded him sit on the side line in confused frustration.

The characters too are interesting and anyone who has read the online web book for which this originates knows already that our Hero is the pinnacle of deadpan badass lol.

I particularly enjoy Chen Guo who while might not be tasteful to the culture she is part of ... is 100% honest in her reactions and always makes me laugh.

So the story was good and the characters ok however this was let down a fair bit by the bland and shiny art. They changed from the beautiful and tastefully done mood settings of the first season, with the subtle and realistic facial expressions, to a sharp and uniformed picture that looks more like something from a ment then anything meant to create sympathetic emotions.

The weapon changes became matrix style and the men look the same.

The sound and the CGI as well was over the top, with all subtly gone out the window (hopefully to return in the 3rd season). While the first season did have some repetitive CGI it fit the picture well and one hopes they may look at going back to the original art company.

In final: If you liked the first season and the web book its worth watching, but expect to be feeling like somethings missing as the beautiful and subtle quality of the first has been tossed aside for shiny fancy 'cutting edge' that does nothing but cut the watcher...
