The best Shoujo anime that aired before 2005

Sometimes, you just want to see cute characters suffer.
I think I got a good amount of anime here. So, I'm closing suggestions for the stack unless the anime is from the Summer 2023 season or newer. If you have an anime that fits that, send me a message and I'll check it out.

This is split into 2 Categories:
B. (starts with Utena) I've only seen Madoka Magica and I want to learn more about the genre, but idk if I'm ready for kids' shows.
If at the end you're ready to explore the mahou shoujo genre in full force, jump to Category A.

A. (starts with Precure) I like cute stuff and the magical girls aesthetic, and I can actually handle stuff aimed at little girls.
If at the end this isn't enough for you, congrats, you're into mahou shoujo and you should start doing your own research.

List of great magical girl animes, anyone whose interested should watch, I do fudge about a bit with the rules for a magical girl anime should be, but otherwise they all make sense.

The most goated Idol Anime of all time.

"Idol" as an anime genre is closely related to the CGDCT genre as well as bishounen anime, although this list only focuses on female idols. There are many different ways of making an idol anime and they can lead to varying results. Some idol anime like to offer you a lot of cute girls without having any ability to properly show you who they are, like Tokyo 7th Sisters, some prefer to focus on a smaller cast while might not deliver the proper idol experience you might expect, but have deeper characters as a result. A large portion rely on 3DCGI for the dance sequences, which make hand animated dances a treat. I've selected a couple shows from the genre that I personally think did the best job all around.

For this list I based myself on the themes of these animes, their learning and that most of the protagonists are 14 years old or younger
