Gretchen, stop trying to make "cheat" happen. It's not going to happen.

To say this show is just a lazy attempt to cash in on the success of other much better isekai is an understatement. There have only been a handful of series in this genre that haven't been utter garbage, but every time one of them does well it's ultimately detrimental because it leads to executives green lighting a bunch of shows like this one. I don't think they even expect any of them to be a success, they're just throwing a bunch of mediocre isekai out there to see if any of them stick.

Just ... being boring would have been bad enough but they outdid themselves making the protagonist as unlikable and obnoxious as they possibly could, so that by the end of it it felt like the show was actively trying to make me angry. He has all the hallmarks of bad character writing: finding out an enemy who was literally just trying to kill him was actually a woman so instead of trying to kill her back immediately start white-knighting and simping, not wanting to kill ever because "killing is bad" is such a mature and realistic philosophy, being obnoxiously altruistic to a fault and making it everyone else's problem. I was audibly groaning the whole way through the last few episodes and it took me days to finish as I was reluctant to keep coming back.

If a bad guy has made it abundantly clear they only seek to do harm to you and yours, it is not only justified but objectively morally correct to end him before he can do so. Letting him live isn't mercy, it's stupid at best and potentially evil at worst as you become partially responsible for anything they end up doing after you already had an opportunity to permanently put a stop to it. Grow the f*ck up, you're fighting a war.

So yeah, I didn't like it. 4/10

Okay the comparisons to Monogatari are fair, but I hadn't seen Monogatari yet when I watched this so it was fresh and original to me, therefore everyone else's opinions are wrong.

This show has so many iconic and memeable moments, from the bunny girl outfit itself to that part where Mai gestures at the camera to the fact that the intro song says uWu. It's truly a hallmark for a new generation of anime fans getting into the hobby as streaming services exploded in popularity and availability of what would have once been incredibly obscure slice of life pieces became widespread.

Protagonist-kun is a little bland, but ... the rest of the cast does a great job filling in for him with plenty of personality. Most of the show is just him being introduced to a new girl and helping them work out their supernatural problem, and if not for the strength of that first arc with the bunny girl I think they're would be some real contenders for stealing the victory in the harem race. I think this is something this show actually does much better than Monogotari, where the first arc doesn't do nearly as good a job of convincing you Senjougarhara is best girl, and it takes several more arcs with her down the road to solidify their relationship.

The final arc with the little sister is heart wrenching because you know nobody is really going to be nearly as broken up about it as protagonist-kun. In other people's minds she was broken for not having her memories anymore, but for him it was like he got his old sister back but the new one he had just spent the last 2 years getting to know is basically dead. Crazy good dramatic storytelling and a bittersweet ending to her character arc, I was certainly in tears. Overall a great watch with plenty of heart and comedic moments, 9/10

It would have been hard for any series to top a first season as phenomenal as Mob Psycho's. Somehow Season 2 manages to not only live up to the hype but exceed expectations in both dramatic explosive action and heartwarming moments of character introspection. Reigen, who was already a pretty great character, manages to solidify himself as one of my favorites, and the rest of the ing cast makes this show stand far above most of it's kind.

The animation is just as fantastic as it was in the first season, each fight being excellently choreographed and even the most basic actions being overly animated to ... the point of excess. You can feel the ion put into each scene and the art style is so unique you'd probably be able to recognize what show it was from just from any single keyframe of animation.

The story of having to take down a big bad organization with a psychic at the top who's powers may rival even Mob's strongest form is great, it makes you question if Mob can really stand up to it right up until the very end and uses each battle to test not just his physical capability but his moral com and philosophy at every turn. A key message seems to be that everyone has the capacity for good, and sometimes simply being told so is the biggest step toward actually changing.

The episode that explores Reigen's life without Mob after they have some petty argument and "break up" for a bit is probably one of the best in all of shounen. It spends the entire episode breaking him down to his very lowest point, only to have Mob's simple words of kindness bring him all the way back up, hitting you right in the feels with his view that Reigen was always "a genuinely good guy." Even though his actions are self-serving at times and even if it was completely unintentional, Mob sees him as a saint and being told as much leads him to want to live up to that standard.

This can be seen in the final villain's confrontation as well, allowing himself to be defined by some other worldview he chose to live his life in a way that isolated him from his family and led him to becoming a Bond villain with henchmen and an evil lair and everything. Mob didn't just beat him up, he managed to take away that hatred and leave him a man who may believably be able to reconcile with his family. It's such a wholesome message in an era that seems to only care about making heroes darker, edgier, and more like Batman because Batman made a lot of money that one time.

I love everything about Mob Psycho and it's one of the few series I've watched more than once, because with a plan to watch list longer than my arm ain't nobody got time to rewatch anything unless it's really good. 10/10

If you're already on Steins;Gate 0 then you already know that the story deals with some pretty heavy themes and can be rather bleak most of the time. But those bleak moments wouldn't hit as hard as they do if we never spent time with these same characters doing something fun instead. A lot of the great character building comes from seeing them just be friends and interact with each other, because without understanding joy you would never be able to adequately comprehend sorrow.

That's all a pretentious way to introduce this special as an incredibly light-hearted slice of life comedy piece with little to none ... of the depressing aspects of Steins;Gate 0's saddest timeline shtick. It's just them goofing around making valentines, not really that complicated. I don't really know what else to say about it, so 7/10 I guess.

Second verse same as the first.

Season 2 of Kakegurui doesn't do a whole lot different from the first. It's more convoluted games set up in a way to look dangerous while actually being rigged from the start, finding way to out cheat the cheaters, and endless sweat drenched sakuga of Jabami ahegao. If you were a fan of that and just wanted it to keep going then you'll love it, and if you're the type of person who loves to complain when something is the same as a thing you've already seen then I've got good news, you'll have plenty to complain about. Complainers love ... having more things to complain about.

Personally I enjoyed the second season. I watched the two back to back and with each new crazy scheme I was suckered in to being on the edge of my seat despite the fact that in the back of my mind I knew the stakes were never really that high because plot armor. Despite pretending to be really high stakes, it pulls all of it's punches and very rarely lets a character receive any punishment worse than temporary humiliation. Even when characters lose they just end up learning a valuable lesson about friendship and ing Fairy Tail afterward.

So if you try to take it very seriously you'll start to find a lot to nitpick, but if you just strap yourself in and try to have a good time it's a fun watch. Just make sure to wear headphones and lock the door. 8/10

This show was so stupid, I love it.

Just on the face of it the concept is hilarious. I grew up watching Power Rangers and spent a good chunk of 2016 and 2017 revisiting my childhood and binging the first 12 seasons or so before I got bored, so I'm very familiar with Sentai tropes. Despite Power Rangers being heavily localized and watered down for the most part it retains most of it's Sentai DNA especially in the fight scenes which are mostly stock footage anyway.

I love that being a member of Gelato 5 or even that evil organization is just something you can do part ... time as a high school student. I didn't realize how young all the characters were until the first time you see Desumi in a sailor uniform. I love that Red Ranger spends most of his time on getting gains, staying on the sigma grindset and only taking breaks for work which later becomes spending time with his girlfriend.

Goofy high concept comedy like this is why I keep coming back to anime as a medium, because nowhere else can you ship a big tiddy teenager wearing an iron maiden as a dress with an actual bear with a cannon on his back. Also I lauged every time the wrist transorming device said "GELATO CHANGE" in the stupid way that it did. 9/10 season 2 when

Right out of the gate this series grips you with it's atmosphere and mystery. It does a fantastic job slowly revealing answers to the questions it's constantly raising, and crafting a dark narrative where everything is obviously not as it seems. But above all I think the characters are what make the show so compelling to watch, Ms Sunshine Emilico being the obvious standout. Her bubbly personality shines so brightly to contrast to dark setting, and her innocent curiosity is what grounds the audience so firmly in the story. You want to know more about how the Shadows House works because she does, and it's ... a brilliant way to exposit information without it feeling like exposition.

Many of the other living dolls introduced all serve to make Emilico more unique by being more brash and arrogant and the whole debut arc was one of the few things I was watching at the time that I binged several episodes back to back, needing to know what happened next. A bit of a diamond in the rough series that I don't think got as much attention as it deserves, it's one that I'd highly recommend for fans of dark thriller fantasy. 9/10

Very interesting take on what is normally very long-form story telling, by condensing in down to less than 2 minutes they successfully keep only what is absolutely essential to the heart of the series. It still feels a bit hollow, like a PV for the eventual full length anime adaptation, though at the time I don't believe any plans for such were under way. It feels like one of those fan animations you might on youtube celebrating a series rather than an official adaptation. Still, it's very flashy and cool looking which I guess is about as much praise as can be given any shounen ... battle anime, so 7/10

Ah yes, nothing I love more than light novel adaptations with confusing watch orders caused by, presumably, executive meddling. We're asked to disregard episode 12, or rather to watch it again but this time slightly different. Without meticulously checking against databases like this to make sure you're watching the right version you're more than likely to find the episodes in some bizzarro order and be confused by this whole section of the anime adaptation.

Save yourself some time maybe and just don't watch any of it, OreImo is trash to the core anyway and not worth troubling yourself over. It should only be handled by hardcore ... masochist weebs such as myself who'll watch anything the random number generator they use to decide what anime to watch next spits out (yes really.)

It's not that I don't think there are things about this series that are funny conceptually, I just find the overarching tone of actual blood-related sibling incest to be incredibly distasteful. It's good for a meme, but not for actual digestion as a story. Any time something good or funny happens it's undermined when you what show you're watching. Not horrible to watch and certainly never boring, just something I can't in good conscious give very high marks to. So, 7/10

It's honestly crazy how much effort was put into this anime series as a whole when you stop and that it's ultimately just an ment for a mobile game. We've had tons of character arcs and development and a buildup to a genuinely great climactic battle. Twist villains are little played out, especially in media targeted at kids for whatever reason, but the villain motivations weren't complicated and didn't really need to be. The power of friendship wins out as the mascot character sacrifices himself even though he's too marketable to die so you know he'll be back anyway. Then we get a nice ... time-skip to a future where everyone is pursing their dreams and Ren finally gets to be with his waifu again and all is well.

It's a cute ending to a surprisingly good anime series, and as a whole it's honestly a fun watch even if you've never played the game it's trying to sell you. 8/10
