Been liking Love is War for a good while. Season 2 certainly reaffirms a lot of what I like about the show. The cast as a whole is very funny and equally contributes/delivers in of personality/screentime. I like a lot of the small nuances here and there that showcases more and more about each individual. To top it off, the show has a terrific direction that makes each episode garner a smile from me. Been waiting for this season to end so I can binge it.


Nice to see you've transitioned to Season 2 of Rakugo, perhaps I should catch up as well.


What do you have planned next? March Comes Like a Lion or Vinland Saga?

Your Crest of the Stars review did what mine failed to do i.e. show that even if you put its politics aside, it was still full of some decidedly awkward tonal and directorial choices. Me - I was just too distracted and annoyed by the fact that (barring just ONE other review at the time) virtually every other review seemed completely blind to the utter one-sidedness of the narrative, so I primarily focused on that. Any review that at least acknowledges this one key aspect is any day preferrable to a dozen others that highlight only the positives without so much as being aware of that one elephant in the room - and I was only trying to compensate for that dozen. I swear, if there was a way to upvote your review over my own, I'd do it without hesitation (heck, I'd even transfer my own upvotes over), but as things stand I can only hand out a mere+1. Too bad

Your Banner of the Stars review was even better that way - as a show certainly better and more focused than its predecessor but with its own set of drawbacks as well, even with the politics aside. Cheers mate

Sorry for the rather late reply; but now I can give you a more set in stone opinion from watching the 3 episodes of Clear Card I had yet to catch up on.

Clear Card is an amazing revival; although it's back to its more monster-of-the-week format, elements such as seeing the relationships of characters after the events of the original is really interesting and charming (Shaoran & Sakura, and even Keroberos and Spinel have a really funny dynamic).

It doesn't feel like a milking of the original in any way, they got the elements perfectly for fans of the original to fall in love with, though it's questionable of how much value the plot will be in the end game; every other element is perfect so far as a fan of the original.

One awesome feature is the inclusion of anime only content such as Meiling, giving that extra charm. It's built a weird narrative: A mix between the manga and anime canon, but it doesn't tarnish the quality at all.


Here's something I've been wondering un-related to the topic of Sakura, do you not have everything you've watched/read on your list?

I have not yet read the manga so I will not be able to compare the two but I'll tell you why I love the anime so much.

There are some differences but I'm not sure to what extent
