My taste in anime varies a lot, since I enjoy shows that I don't really think are objectively good, and enjoy shows that I might not have liked based on the genre, due to being really good.
Despite that I tend to like more complex and chracters/world driven shows with action and powerful stories.
Not really a Shounen, Isekai or Romance guy in anime, but a bit of each can really make a show great in my opinion.

As far as my tastes in manga goes, there are two clear favourites:
The first being romance and Shoujo stories.
The second are the harsher and grittier shows especially dark fantasies.
Favourite Characters 573t34
Characters are sometimes the main drive for me to watch or stick with a show.
Therefore, don't be surprised if you find characters from shows I didn't rate too high since I like the characters not always the show they are in.
I tend to like mainly flawed, funny and witted characters that always make the scenes they are in better.

By the way, I recommend Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri. It’s a military anime where a gate to another world suddenly appears in Japan. It’s funny, action-packed, and really well done!
That said, my taste in anime can be a bit unusual, so I might not be the best at giving recommendations. 😅 What I can suggest, though, is to keep an eye on the current and seasonal anime. Sometimes the hidden gems in those lineups turn out to be more interesting than the popular shows. Feel free to check my watchlist too—maybe you’ll find something that catches your eye!
PS.Akatsuki no Yona from the description sounds very interesting
